00:00Hi again.
00:01There's some rain in the forecast if you live in the north and even in some central parts
00:04of the UK over the next 24 hours, but in the south where we desperately need the rain,
00:09very little in the forecast through the week ahead.
00:11The rain is courtesy of this cold front which becomes an occlusion as it clears away towards
00:14the east on Sunday.
00:15Then high pressure takes over across the UK through much of the coming week, bringing
00:19dry weather but also increasing heat, so wind switching to a subtle direction, importing
00:25some of that heat once again from the near continent, so England and Wales in particular
00:28really seeing those temperatures rocket potentially into the mid-30s by the middle of the week.
00:33But back to this evening, and it's actually a warm and pleasant end to the day across many
00:36parts of England and Wales.
00:38Some late sunshine but also a fair amount of cloud around too.
00:41Possibly one or two very isolated light showers through the early hours, but these very hit
00:45and miss and actually many places missing them entirely.
00:48And across England and Wales it will be a warmer night compared to last night.
00:52Temperatures actually fell last night in the rural spots down to mid to low single figures,
00:56but I think in the towns and cities tonight at least it will stay quite warm, temperatures
01:00not falling much below 15 to 17 degrees Celsius.
01:03Across more northern areas, especially Scotland and Northern Ireland, quite a wet night.
01:07By the end of the night the band of rain reaching parts of northern England and turning a little
01:12bit clearer and drier in the very far northwest, but staying quite breezy for Shetland and Orkney.
01:18Now this brighter, more showerier regime will gradually filter southwards across Scotland
01:22through the morning on Sunday, so turning much brighter, sunnier spells here compared
01:27to on Saturday.
01:28One or two blustery showers, yes, for the very far northwest and the Northern Isles, but
01:32otherwise a much sunny and brighter day to come.
01:35Still some rain in the afternoon across Northern Ireland and Northern England, but this much
01:38more showery in nature, so turning a little bit dry here too.
01:42And holding on to dry and mostly sunny conditions further south across the UK, and that's where
01:46we like to see temperatures really jump up compared to on Saturday.
01:49The heat building, temperatures into the high 20s Celsius widely, and southeastern parts
01:54of England, the south and eastern parts of East Anglia will see temperatures into the
01:5830s as well, so 32 or 33 degrees, feeling pretty hot indeed in the south.
02:04Now as we go into Sunday evening, that band of rain, nothing really more than a band of
02:09cloud by this point and a few showery outbreaks, continues to affect some northern counties of
02:13England, maybe the far north of Wales, but turning to clear a way eastwards into the North
02:16Sea.
02:17Otherwise, apart from a few showers in the northeast of Scotland, most places will have
02:21a dry night and start to Monday morning too.
02:24A fresher picture though to begin the day across more northern areas, temperatures certainly
02:28in Scotland in the countryside falling into single figures, holding on to some warmth though
02:32across many parts of England and Wales, with perhaps temperatures in the main urban areas
02:36in the south not falling below 17 or 18 degrees.
02:39So quite a warm start to the new working week in the south, and with a lot of sunshine, temperatures
02:44will once again climb pretty quickly.
02:46But there will be a bit more on a way of cloud around for a time, and certainly across north
02:50-east
02:51Scotland that cloud thick enough to bring a few blustery showers as we go through the
02:55day.
02:55But look at the map, by Monday afternoon basically most places dry, with some fairly lengthy periods
03:01of sunshine.
03:02Now it won't be quite as hot on Monday in the south compared to on Sunday, but still nonetheless
03:07very warm indeed, temperatures perhaps into the high 20s for some, and with lighter winds
03:12across most of Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England, and a bit more in a way
03:15of sunshine, here it should feel fairly pleasantly warm with highs of 18 to 23 degrees Celsius.
03:21Still quite cool though for Shetland and Orkney with that brisk north-westerly wind.
03:26So fairly changed over the next few days.
