00:00Hello there and welcome to your Tuesday morning weather update from the Met Office.
00:05It's warming up further today, temperatures will be higher than yesterday across many
00:09parts.
00:10Still with some rain grazing the far north and northwest, high pressure sits across
00:15the North Sea and these weather fronts continue to remain across more western areas of the
00:20UK.
00:21Even so, the heat will gradually intensify from the south, highest temperatures across
00:26many parts of the UK will be on Thursday with a peak temperature of 36 Celsius across the
00:31southeast of England before things freshen up from the west later.
00:36Now through this morning we could see one or two shallow mist and fog patches across England
00:41and Wales.
00:42There's more clouds across Scotland and a little rain grazing the far northwest Highlands
00:47as well as the Western Isles.
00:49Notice it's pushing its way northwards.
00:51For most of the day many areas will be dry, certainly that will be the case across England
00:56and Wales and Northern Ireland and any rain just drifting towards Orkney and Shetland
01:00through the afternoon.
01:01Again, it won't be very heavy, it will be mostly light as well as patchy.
01:06Here are your temperatures then through the afternoon.
01:09Now along the coastline we could have some onshore breezes, but inland across England and
01:13Wales 28 to 29 degrees Celsius and 22 across the central belt southern parts of Scotland,
01:2022 to 24 for Northern Ireland.
01:22And even further north than Murray Firth seeing temperatures into the 20s here.
01:27A bit of a breeze across the western and northeastern side of Scotland, light breezes though inland
01:33making it feel pleasantly warm in the north with that sunshine very warm in the south.
01:38And temperatures are going to rise day on day through the next few days.
01:41Through this evening though, a pleasant evening and again a mix of cloud and clearer skies
01:47overnight and a little rain, showery rain at that, clipping Northern Ireland and Western
01:53Scotland into Wednesday morning.
01:55Yet again we could see a bit more cloud across Scotland as we start the day, but temperatures
02:00generally speaking will be in double figures, feeling warm in the towns and cities, holding
02:05around 16, 17 in places.
02:08First thing then on Wednesday morning, we start with some cloud across Scotland and Northern
02:13Ireland.
02:14Some showery rain, particularly across the north as well as the west of Scotland, one or two
02:18showers just drifting in across Northern Ireland, southern Scotland, the far north of England.
02:23Now for the rest of England it's a fine start to the day, a dry one with sunny spells and
02:27the sun will come out elsewhere.
02:29Any showers again will be fairly isolated across more Northern areas, scattered across Western
02:35Scotland.
02:36Here are your temperatures then, well up to 25, 26 across the central belt, southern parts
02:41of Scotland as well as Northern Ireland and further south across England and Wales, we'll
02:46see these values peak into the low 30s, so feeling hot with that sunshine and just a light wind.
02:53And again along the coast, a bit more of a breeze, but even so temperatures will be higher
02:57along this east coast relative to today.
03:01So that's the picture on Wednesday as we head through Wednesday evening and overnight.
03:05Yet again we'll see some showery bursts across more Western areas and in fact through Thursday
03:11those showers could turn heavy with the risk of thunder in places.
03:15But this cold front then gradually drifts in and pushes across Scotland, Northern Ireland,
03:20Northern England and West Wales.
03:21So we'll see some fresher air slowly migrate from the west with that the chance of some
03:28showers.
03:29But for Thursday that's as I said where we'll see the peak in the temperatures, 36 across
03:34the home counties of England, eastern counties inland.
03:37And then towards the north there, 27 Celsius across central belt of Scotland.
03:42And for Wales, we're likely to see perhaps east Wales coming in around 34 Celsius.
03:47So a very warm day, if not hot day across England and Wales with lots of sunshine coming through.
03:53But the showery rain across more northern and western areas could be heavy in places as well
03:58as a thundery.
03:59But notice the difference on Friday.
04:02Yes, there will be some showers around, still some sunshine and we hang on to those higher
04:06temperatures into the low 30s across more eastern and southeastern counties.
04:11Elsewhere, pleasantly warm in any sunshine, but there will be some showers just dotted around
04:16and those temperatures rising into the low 20s across many areas, but still across eastern
04:21and southern parts of Wales we could see the mid to high 20s.
04:24So all in all, yes, we'll see a spike in the heat Wednesday into Thursday.
04:28And for many, it's a dry week away from more northern and western areas of Scotland and occasionally
04:33Northern Ireland.
