00:01We've got Thursday night baseball here at Dodger Stadium and the Giants and Dodgers meet in the final game of
00:07the homestand and the Dodgers trying to build on last night's complete team win a fourth shutout victory to snap
00:13a four game skit and they need more consistency and somebody to step up Emmett Sheehan on the mound he's
00:19got to go deeper into the games and be a higher quality pitching against a team he has fared well
00:24against in his young career Sheehan facing the Giants of course he debuted against San Francisco a few years ago
00:29so
00:29important for Emmett Sheehan here in the first inning to get out of this rather quickly his first inning ERA
00:351029 innings two through five it's 280 he's got the first two and now the designated hitter Casey Schmidt right
00:43-handed batter one ball two strike pitch from Sheehan and Schmidt swings and strikes out he got him with the
00:49slider a one two three top of the first inning for Emmett Sheehan on the hill tonight for the Giants
00:55will be the right-hander Ladd Rupp he's 27 years of age he's in his second year at the
00:59big league level he's given a one home run in his 43 and two thirds for the first time ever
01:05leading off Will Smith he's the designated hitter tonight Shohei Ohtani will start the evening on the bench with hitting
01:11256 three homers and 17 runs batted in one two fly to the air right center field on the warning
01:20track goal goodbye I think Will Smith likes that leadoff spot what do you think Shohei who
01:29how did Dave Roberts know push the right button place the right guy Will Smith in his first appearance leading
01:36off it's a leadoff homer all four and a two-out walk after having an 0-2 that result a
01:43surprise even before you factor in where the count was in the last three games he started entering this evening
01:4825 strikeouts compared to just two free passes Chapman just one home run this season he's got 158 plate appearances
01:56without one swing and a miss strike three strikeout number two on the evening for Emmett Sheehan all four and
02:05a leadoff walk back-to-back innings to start the game the Dodgers put the leadoff man on how about
02:10Teoscar Hernandez this homestand hits in four of five games Teoscar Hernandez fly ball opposite field this ball is going
02:17to bounce off the running track and there's some slug it's a stand-up
02:22double double for Hernandez the ball is skipping through the infield Muncy's going to hold at third base well he's
02:28doing it himself this homestand getting hits in five out of the six games that he's played in and this
02:33is one of those five and this one slices away right into the gap he needs a little momentum where
02:41the ball falls in and this could be one that really helps his confidence great chance here for Dalton rushing
02:4617 runs batted in for rushing
02:48a 3-0-3-0-2 average now he takes strike three call and he's going to challenge that call
02:54immediately and we take a look at the big scoreboard in the illustration and it hits the top of the
03:00strike zone strike three calls from from L.A. has one challenge left call confirmed rushing frustrated he knows that
03:09his job there was to have a productive out now one away for Hessong Kim line drive base hit in
03:16the left center field Muncy scores
03:18Hernandez Hernandez will hold Kim reading the throw will hold it first with an RBI base hit and the Dodgers
03:26double their lead Will Smith drives in himself in the first at bat Kim says I'll take the first pitch
03:33high sinker that he just gets the barrel on with a nice level swing the Dodgers they get another hit
03:38with men in scoring position on the bottom of the order Miguel Rojas and a bump and root now is
03:45going to chase Hernandez back to third
03:47and Chapman will tag him you gotta run right at that guy that's the first time I've seen a safety
03:55squeeze not work and it really I didn't think it was that bad of a bunt from Rojas perhaps a
04:00bit hard but one thing about Rupert he really defends his position well first and second two men out Will
04:07Smith got him so Rupert does what he needed to do limited damage it's 2-0 L.A. Dodgers with
04:14the lead Drew Gilbert the center fielder will
04:17lead off 2-2 swing and a miss and he's out on strikes third strikeout for Sheehan he really has
04:23been locked in his spray pattern has been very tight and made very few mistakes right there has sung Kim
04:29easy play as he flips on the first and the side is retired no runs no hits one left one
04:34away for Kyle Tucker Tucker flying to right first time up another ball sharply hit and look at her eyes
04:42and he had to get down a dirty to get this one beautiful part about being a second
04:47baseman is you have time to get up set yourself and get that throw off he's played great at second
04:52we see it every day him and Shane back to work for the fourth inning and the fastball which has
04:56been his best pitch throughout his career a lot better so far tonight against San Francisco trying to finish Schmidt
05:02and he does just pumps it by him that's another area of improvement that he wants to make with two
05:09strikes last year the league we had 135 off of him with two strikes this year so far coming into
05:15this outing the league was
05:17hitting 225 which is the seventh worst in the national league he's changing that tune tonight here's Devers a little
05:24flip to left and this one is going to fall so Devers gets the first hit for the Giants he'll
05:31take it right now the Giants don't care and just
05:34they'll take any hit they could get just no chance for Teoscar Hernandez or Muncie just a Texas leaguer thing
05:42he's still 2-0 Dodgers after three and a half the Oscar doubled his first time up off the right
05:48center field wall
05:51Hernandez loops it down into the left field corner he's going to have his second double of the game he
05:57doesn't want this homestand to end
05:58no he's starting to consistently get hits in this homestand only missed one of the games that he played where
06:07he did take an 0 for this one he earns a little bit more the barreled up deep fly ball
06:13to right center was hit in the right place this one was hit properly in a line drive top spin
06:19down the line scoring position for Dalton rushing with one out swinging strike three on a great curveball from Root
06:28and it's the second time that he is struck out rushing breaking the bat after the second K of the
06:34night now the 1-2 pitch swing and a miss he struck him out with a high fastball good work
06:40there by Root after the double by Hernandez he strikes out two in a row bottom of the order for
06:45San Francisco here in the top of the fifth got him we've seen that pitch a lot tonight slider low
06:52and away perfectly executed to a right-handed hitter to put him away outstanding he has
06:58he has found it tonight when it has gone just a little south he's locked back in I would say
07:0495 percent of this outing he's been really really really good strike three called Gilbert taps the helmet ball four
07:13to bring the tying run to the plate for San Francisco so Haas is aboard on a fielder's choice and
07:19Gilbert is forced out six to four two men out back to the top of the order Jung who leave
07:24this is flipped the other way and it's a fair ball
07:30and it gets by Hernandez it's going to allow the speedy has to score and here comes Jung who and
07:39this game is tied unbelievable this is a home run swing if I ever saw one just kind of hits
07:51a fillet down the left field line and it skips off the wall and kicks away from Hernandez it has
07:57to be a home run
07:58I mean easy score for Haas oh what a blunder from Teoscar Hernandez in left field my goodness it's two
08:07to two and the Sheehan had that look about him for a good portion of this game to start three
08:12in the third innings without surrendering a hit and even after that maintain that look like hey this is shutout
08:17territory for the right-hander tipped into the glove strike three Schmidt down for the first out of the sixth
08:23and the sixth came for Sheehan
08:25very nice he has Cade six and this one he does finish off and doesn't reach base the two strike
08:32count out one two three top of the sixth they go to the Dodger half of the sixth inning
08:37is low ball four and a leadoff walk four out of six innings that the Dodgers have gotten the leadoff
08:42hitter on
08:43Teoscar Hernandez back to the plate two for two with two doubles pitch 105 coming up from Landon Root Hernandez
08:51pulls it to left down for another hit he's three for three Muncie trying for third the throw the tag
08:58the ball skips away and Hernandez takes second and fires up the dugout
09:02he hits it down where the sin was committed this one works out really well Muncie with a very hard
09:10slide catches his knee so there's no chance for a tag
09:14and Teoscar kept his head on swivel and made it over to second second and third one out in the
09:22sixth Tony Vitello takes Roop out he'll bring the lefty Matt Gage in
09:26Dalton Dalton a rushing spot tie ball game bottom of the sixth here in Los Angeles the Dodgers threatening
09:34swing and a miss he got him boy three pitched him right out of the strike sound across the letter
09:42top and rushing that's a hat trick
09:44beautiful fastball taking advantage of an 0-2 advantage
09:48Dalton rushing running hot tonight snapped the bat earlier smacking his own helmet with the bat after his third K
09:55we're gonna get a pinch hitter the sixth inning will come down to Alex call call sprays it to right
10:02field sinking fast
10:03hits down for a hit Muncie is in Hernandez behind him he's safe and the Dodgers are back in front
10:10call going for second
10:11he's got that safely to a pinch hit to run single for Alex call he swings he's like oh there
10:20it is okay
10:21it's gonna fall in Muncie scores Teoscar scores that flips things around a little bit now as
10:28Emmett Sheehan is the pitcher of record on the plus side now
10:32inning continues for Miguel Rojas the Dodgers leading 4-2
10:36Rojas to center base hit
10:40call a race in what an at bat from Miguel Rojas 5-2 LA
10:47don't try to do too much stay within yourself take the heater to right field and have enough swing to
10:54hit the slider and he does just barely
10:58hit it
10:59Gage really changed speed on that slider took a lot off but maybe stretched out
11:04hit it just
11:05good enough to get over the infield the Dodgers strike for three runs on three hits Tanner Scott coming on
11:12for the ninth inning to try and
11:14close this one out for the Dodgers so far this year first 19 games he looks terrific
11:19he really does throwing strikes with both pitches mixing up as a mystery really is pitching very very well strike
11:27three
11:28gas one more out to go the one-two pitch
11:32that's three and that's a win for LA
11:36they lose the first two they win the last two when the Dodgers are back in first place
