00:00Hello there. If you're after some drier and sunnier weather, well it does look like you'll
00:04be waiting quite some time. Low pressure is set to dominate through the week ahead and
00:07that's going to bring further spells of rain for all of us. That's been the case out there
00:12through the weekend so far as well, as indeed this morning. This is the latest radar and
00:16satellite picture from earlier today. We've had these bands of rain pushing their way
00:20northwards across the UK, some dry interludes in between. Indeed, a few glimmers of brightness
00:24out there this morning, particularly across parts of Wales, the West Midlands, parts of
00:28Northern Ireland have seen a few glimmers of sunshine as well. But we have got some more
00:32persistent rain across the south of Wales now, parts of the West Country, Dorset, Somerset
00:37and central southern parts of England. And here it will be a pretty wet afternoon, as it will be
00:41indeed across the Pennines and parts of central and eastern parts of Scotland. Here a fairly keen
00:46easterly breeze continuing, making it feel rather cold out there and in fact cold enough for some
00:51of the rain to be falling as snow across the high ground. So temperatures a bit suppressed,
00:55no better than five or six degrees in some northeastern areas. But generally speaking,
01:00elsewhere temperatures are around average for the time of year. And winds in the south will be much
01:05less strong compared to yesterday, so it won't perhaps feel quite as chilly in the south. Although,
01:11as I say, a breezy day to come for more northern areas. So as we go into this evening, the rain starts
01:16to become a little bit more showery across the south. There will be some rain around for a time,
01:21but many places turning a little bit drier. Although for northeastern parts of Scotland and perhaps the
01:26Pennines, the far northeast of England, still staying pretty damp. Some wintry showers across
01:30the Pennines through the early hours and further more prolonged periods of rain and hill snow
01:35continuing across the north and east of Scotland. The cloud cover will act like a little bit of a
01:40blanket tonight, so preventing temperatures from falling away too far. Most towns and cities holding up
01:46at around three or four degrees Celsius, but we could see one or two clearer slots in the clouds. So parts of
01:51Wales, the very far southwest, and in particular the northwest of Scotland. So here, we could see some
01:56frost. And where the winds are lightest in the southwest, we could even see one or two fog patches as
02:01well. But any fog, any frost will not last very long at all. On Monday, it will quickly clear and that will
02:07leave Monday quite a drab, cloudy and chilly day for many of us. Central and eastern parts of England could get away
02:13of a largely dry day, bar the odd spot or two a drizzle here and there. Quite a damp day once again
02:18to come across northeastern parts of Scotland. Frequent outbreaks of rain and hill snow once again
02:23and still rather windy, so feeling pretty cold and miserable in the breeze here. And out towards the
02:28west, here comes the next band of wet and windy weather. So some particularly heavy rain arriving
02:33in northern Ireland by the afternoon. A rainfall warning coming into effect here. So expect some surface
02:38water on the roads, potentially some flooding as well, and that rain pushing into Wales and the
02:43southwest as we go through the afternoon. The winds will be starting to strengthen from a southerly
02:47direction across the southwest and that will lift temperatures up to 10 degrees for Plymouth. But for
02:51most of us, it will be a colder day to come on Monday. Highs no better than four or five degrees,
02:56perhaps in the east, and that's due to a slightly brisker southeasterly flow developing. Now through
03:03Monday evening, the band of heavy rain and gustier southerly winds will continue to push its
03:07way gradually eastwards into more of Wales, central and southern parts of England. So some heavy rain,
03:12some surface water, particularly across the southwest where it's been particularly wet of late.
03:17Some saturated ground here and warnings are in place. Now as you go into Monday night and into
03:22Tuesday, we'll start to see an area of low pressure deepening quite quickly. So a further spell of
03:27heavy rain for many parts of the UK moving into Tuesday. Weather warnings are in place, so do check
03:32our app or our website for further details on those. And as those ice bars re-tighten together,
03:37we'll start to see some fairly windy conditions across parts of the UK on Tuesday too, and as well
03:42as that, some hill snow across the north. And it's not just Tuesday, the whole of the week ahead is
03:46going to be pretty wet. This is a graphic showing how rainfall totals will build up through the next
03:51four or five days. And you'll see that by the time we get to the end of the week, some places will
03:55have seen well over 100 millimetres of rain. Not good news for those flood affected areas with the ground being
04:01saturated. Further flooding and further warnings are likely in the coming days. So do stay tuned
