00:00Hello, good afternoon. The theme of sunny spells and showers is once again the story
00:05for Saturday. And if we have a look at the radar and satellite imagery from the last
00:09few hours, we can see where those showers have been. They've been pushing from west
00:12to east across the UK, and we've actually seen the focus of the showers in the last
00:16few hours across the very far south. So running into southern England, but also packing into
00:20many western parts of the UK, and some of those showers have also been quite thundery.
00:24And the story's not going to change very much through this afternoon, so very changeable
00:27out there. Sunny spells one moment, a passing downpour the next, and I wouldn't want to
00:32rule out the risk of the odd rumble of thunder pretty much anywhere across the UK through
00:36the course of this afternoon. The showers might just ease a little bit, turning a little bit
00:40more isolated across more western and southern areas later today, but there'll still be a
00:44few around. It won't be as windy, though, as it has been in recent days, so if you do catch
00:49some sunshine, it won't feel too bad. Overall temperature's fairly close to average for
00:53the time of year, but certainly as those showers pass through, it will be on the cool
00:57side. Into this evening then, and the showers continue for a time, particularly focused across
01:02parts of North Wales, maybe northwest England, and parts of Scotland for a time, so some more
01:07frequent showers to come here. Otherwise, those skies clearing, and the showers tend to fade
01:11away, so many places turning dry as we move towards the early hours of Sunday morning, and
01:16with clearing skies, it is set to be a fairly chilly night quite widely across the UK, and in
01:21the countryside, we could even see a touch of frost in the countryside in the far south, maybe
01:26down to 3 to 5 degrees Celsius in rural areas, but for northern parts of Scotland, well, air
01:32temperatures could even get down quite close to freezing, so it's more likely to see some
01:35frost here. There may well be one or two mist and fog patches as the winds ease down as
01:39well, but those won't last very long on Sunday morning, and that's all because the winds are
01:44going to be strengthening out towards the west. We've got this area of low pressure moving
01:47in through the day on Sunday, so the wind's really starting to strengthen through the latter
01:51part of Sunday, and we do have a yellow wind warning coming into place from 8pm on Sunday
01:56evening across England and Wales, and those winds will continue to stay strong as we move
02:00into Monday as well, those ice bars staying fairly close together across England and Wales,
02:05but the winds also strengthening at times across some parts of northern Britain too.
02:10But back to Sunday morning, and it's a blue sky and sunny start to the day for many, especially
02:15so across more central, eastern and northern parts of the UK. Make the most of that sunshine
02:19because already in the west, it will be turning cloudy. Outbreaks of rain arriving later in the
02:24morning across southwest England, Wales and northern Ireland, some of that rain particularly
02:28heavy, especially over the higher ground, and that rain will gradually push its way further
02:33north and east across the UK as we move through the afternoon. The best of the brightness holding
02:38on across more northern parts of Scotland on Sunday, so some hazy sunshine to come for Aberdeenshire
02:43and the northern isles here. But out towards the west, the winds really starting to strengthen
02:47through the course of the afternoon, so Irish sea gales developing and winds even in lands
02:52starting to gust 30 to 40 miles per hour. With those winds, it's not going to feel very pleasant,
02:57feeling on the cool side, but temperatures largely around average once again for the time of year.
03:04That rain continues to push its way north and east across the UK through Sunday evening and Sunday
03:08night, so still some pretty heavy bursts pretty much anywhere, but generally tends to turn a little
03:12bit more showery out towards the west. As that happens though, the winds will start to strengthen,
03:17so that wind warning coming into effect at 8pm across many parts of England and Wales, and it's
03:21going to stay windy on Monday as well. Gales in the south, a mixture of sunny spells and heavy showers,
03:27some thunderstorms around perhaps as well, and temperatures a little bit disappointing, but not
