00:00I haven't heard this yet.
00:01Stallion has some audio of Austin Eckler.
00:05Grand Danny are out in Vegas for Circa Sportsbook promotion of Survivor Pools.
00:11And I guess they've got like a little radio roast set up.
00:14What exactly is going on here, Stallion?
00:16Set us up here.
00:18Yeah, so they had Austin Eckler on yesterday.
00:20And obviously Eckler was part of the commander's last two years.
00:24I thought this audio was kind of interesting because they asked just kind of about your confidence
00:29and Jaden Daniels bouncing back this season.
00:31And I thought Eckler kind of gave an interesting answer.
00:34Here's what he had to say.
00:36What's your confidence in?
00:37I remember when you first came over, we talked a lot about Justin Herbert
00:40and how much you liked him in L.A.
00:42What's your confidence in Jaden having a monster bounce back?
00:45I think he has to.
00:46Everything's kind of set up for him, too.
00:48This is a very crucial year for Jaden.
00:51Not only just because of the organization, but because for him.
00:54I think his trajectory is going up, and it's like, all right, let's get back on that.
00:57Let's get back on it.
00:58He's got the potential to have that skill.
01:00So you want to make sure, obviously, if you have a dip, hey, the dip doesn't slow you down.
01:04And so I think that's going to be good for him to show and prove that, hey, yeah,
01:07it was a bounce back here because I had injuries, but injuries haven't slowed me down at all.
01:10Still really young.
01:11Still a lot of talent around his team, too.
01:15We'll see how it plays out.
01:16See how it plays out.
01:17I'm not on the team anymore, so I can't help him myself.
01:19But as far as him, I think he's one of the players that can take over the game
01:23because he is so athletic.
01:25We saw, I mean, the 2024 running all over the place when he needed to,
01:30almost sometimes too much, but can take over the game.
01:34And so with that, I think he gives himself the most upside to actually come back
01:38and make that bounce back.
01:40What did he say was too much?
01:42He said sometimes running around too much.
01:44He said he has the ability to take over the game.
01:47You saw him.
01:47He was running around, and he said sometimes too much.
01:52I don't know.
01:56I guess as you get older as a quarterback, you learn not to run as much.
02:00Because he said we saw in 2024 and how he took over,
02:05and that's the reason that they had the success they had.
02:07But so I can't see how you're going to credit him for one thing
02:10and then try to say he didn't.
02:12So I don't know if he was trying to do a little slip one in there or not.
02:17That's, I don't know either.
02:20Maybe he's just kind of saying he should run around a little less, but maybe.
02:23Well, he was saying he took over at the time he needed to take over.
02:27So in essence, he's saying what he did is what we needed.
02:33Let's assume health for the sake of this conversation.
02:36Let's assume Jaden plays, hell, 17 games.
02:41What constitutes a big year for Jaden?
02:46If he's healthy?
02:49Over the 3,000 yards like he was?
02:52I think you'd like it to be four.
02:54Well over that.
02:54I'm just saying.
02:55If he, and running, I don't want to see him have to get up to close to 1,000.
03:00I want to see him for a 5,600.
03:03You know, I don't want him to be that.
03:05But if he can keep the touchdown to interception ratio very cool, you know,
03:11I think it's a big year.
03:13So in essence, let's win some games.
03:16That's what's most important to me.
03:18We get caught up in the stats.
03:19I don't care about W's and L's.
03:21That's it.
03:22As a rookie, Jaden was obviously phenomenal.
03:25Completed 69% of his passes, 3,600 passing yards, 25 touchdowns against nine picks.
03:31He also contributed on the ground as a rookie.
03:35Almost 900 rushing yards, six touchdowns.
03:38Average a little over 50 yards rushing per game.
03:44On 148 attempts, he ran for 64 first downs.
03:47So that's, I mean, roughly 45% of his carries went for first downs.
03:54Last year, 58 attempts in seven games.
04:02So if you double that, gets you to 116, and then you add three more games.
04:07He was probably on track for about the same amount of rushes last year.
04:11Even though it felt like at times he was a little quicker to pull it and run last year.
04:18Maybe he was also just kind of running for his life more last year.
04:22You did see the completion percentage dip fairly significantly.
04:27You went from 69% to 60.6%.
04:30TDI and team ratio was clean.
04:32It was only seven starts.
04:34It was only four complete games.
04:35But eight touchdowns against just three interceptions.
04:40From a statistical standpoint, a bounce back year for Jaden, to me,
04:48is kind of what you're saying would be a little more passing, around 4,000 yards passing,
04:53a little less rushing.
04:56Because I also think the designed quarterback runs will be fewer and far between in David Blau's offense
05:05than they were in Cliff's offense.
05:07Not that he's not going to run, but the called runs will be a little less.
05:12I mean, the whole thing for me, if it's a call run or not, if he starts running, just protect
05:17yourself.
05:18That's all I want to see.
05:20And that's why I was so happy when he hurried and threw the ball away in that game.
05:26Because I wanted to see, was he thinking about protecting himself?
05:30You get what I'm saying?
05:30Totally.
05:31And he was.
05:32So, moving forward, I want to see that continue.
05:36B. Mitchell Finley, 800-636-1067.
05:39800-636-1067.
05:43I want to let folks weigh in.
05:44What does a bounce back season look like for Jaden Daniels?
05:47You've got Austin Eckler, who was his teammate for two seasons, saying,
05:51yeah, you're looking for a big bounce back.
05:53What does that look like?
05:53Does it need to look like his rookie year?
05:55Does it need to look different?
05:57I also wonder, like, as people are welcome to call, let's say Allegretti's back and there's no problems.
06:06Cosme goes 17 games.
06:08You're still going to be missing Tunsil, right?
06:11How big of a deal is that impacting Jaden?
06:19If it's just one person doing the job, it'll be a big deal.
06:23But if they can game plan and, like I said, use the running backs and the tight ends, you can
06:29nullify that.
06:30You know, having a guy chipping and stuff like that can help out tremendously on that side.
06:37And we've had coaches come through here that refuse to do that.
06:40Totally.
06:41You've got to – I think if you get 17 games with Coleman, means that you've relatively kind of quieted
06:52down what the impact of –
06:54Tunsil's better, period.
06:56I'm not denying that.
06:57I think where you really see trouble is Tunsil's down, so Coleman is playing,
07:03and then if you have other injuries and your entire depth gets taken down another layer, that's trouble.
07:08And I think that's probably part of why they added DJ Humphreys as a free agent.
07:12I do want to open these phones.
07:15800-636-1067.
07:17800-636-1067.
07:21I think this is such a silly thing that I've been focused on for so many years.
07:27I'd like to see 30 passing touchdowns.
07:30And I'd like to see 30 passing touchdowns because it hasn't happened here since Sonny freaking Juergensen.
07:36Like, it's insane.
07:39But maybe for a guy like Jaden, it's more about total touchdowns, which I can recognize.
07:43But the rookie season, that was so impressive.
07:46I think he threw for 26, I want to say.
07:50I think I just said the number, didn't I?
07:53Rookie season, he went for 25 passing touchdowns, another six on the ground.
08:00How much do you think, we talked about losing Tunsil, which is a big impact.
08:05How much does the addition of Steph Diggs maybe change some of these numbers?
08:09A lot.
08:10Because Steph is just like Ertz was.
08:13But you can imagine that being like on steroids.
08:16Yeah.
08:17Because he works the spaces.
08:19He can be that insurance policy.
08:22And he's way more explosive than what Ertz was.
08:25Let's go to Anthony down in Martinsville.
08:27What's up, Ant?
08:27What does a bounce-back season look like for Jaden?
08:31Hey, what's going on, fellas?
08:32What's up, man?
08:34Hey, great to hear your voice.
08:35I want to say this.
08:36I think a bounce-back season looks like 4,000 yards passing and 300 yards rushing.
08:43No more.
08:45But here's the thing.
08:46Nobody likes to be called out of their name or called something that they're not.
08:50And as much as I love Jaden, and I know we all do, Jaden, you're at a point in your
08:55life
08:55where you've got to decide, are you a running back who can pass, or are you a quarterback who can
09:00run?
09:01Because based on this year, if you go out there for 1,000 yards rushing and 2,500 yards passing,
09:07that's what they're going to start saying.
09:08It might not be true, but that's how the league is going to start looking at you.
09:12So I want to see 4,000 yards passing, 300 yards rushing.
09:16Hey, y'all have a blessing.
09:17Appreciate you, man.
09:19Look, man, I want him to pass from 4,000 yards.
09:25But if they give him space and he gets 500, 700 yards rushing, I'm not going to care about that.
09:31I just want him to take less hits.
09:34That's it.
09:37And those hits are out when you're running the ball.
09:42Get down.
09:44Because he's going to get hit in the pocket sometimes.
09:46Sure.
09:47You know?
09:47But, like, listen, I'm never going to sit up here and limit what somebody has.
09:55I just don't want you having to run over people.
09:59In the past, we've talked about, you know, you don't want to limit his competitiveness.
10:04Do you think that's something you kind of grow and mature into and realize, get out of bounds, slide?
10:09Yeah.
10:10I believe that happens.
10:11But, like, the thing for me is it's depending on the game you're playing in.
10:15And it's kind of hard when you have that ability just to stop.
10:20But my thing is not trying to take hits from multiple people or the big people.
10:25Yeah.
10:26You know?
10:27And some of those things you can control, some of them you can't.
10:31Let's hit the phones.
10:32Folks are calling in.
10:33800-636-1067.
10:35800-636-1067.
10:38Let's hit up my guy, Manny.
10:39Yo, real quick, though.
10:40Shout out to Tricky.
10:42Tricky that always calls into the show, works here in Baltimore, and came and said, what's up to me?
10:45A&B said he's going to be watching for Robert Henry tonight.
10:49So we're all watching for Robert Henry.
10:50Manny, what's a bounce-back year for Jayden Daniels?
10:58I'm going to say the same thing I said when I called.
11:02I'm going to say I want 17 games.
11:05But 14 to 17 games is cool, and it's 20-24 numbers.
11:10Because if he supersedes his numbers, that's not a bounce-back.
11:13That's like he's doing better, way better.
11:17So we're looking for way better with this O-line than we got to really realize what's going on.
11:23I like less running.
11:25Less running because he didn't get hurt.
11:27He got hurt on his tackles.
11:29He didn't get hurt getting up out of them holes.
11:31He got hurt once they got their hands on them and them big 300, 200, 300-pounders fell on.
11:36We got running backs for that.
11:37We got people for that.
11:39But, yeah, his rookie numbers, that's a bounce-back season.
11:43Because that means that he can actually – that's consistency.
11:45He can actually give us that whenever he wants to.
11:48And then, if you think about it, look who we got, you know what I mean,
11:52compared to who we had in those – in position, in skilled positions.
11:56He should get those numbers easily.
11:59Because in my eyes, the only spot that, you know, we are lacking at, for real, for real,
12:04is because our O-line is hurt.
12:07Other than that, it seems like our 2024 roster position-wise, we got a better roster position-wise now.
12:17So, I think he's going to cut up.
12:19He might give us 4,100 and 35.
12:24You know what I mean?
12:25With seven INTs.
12:27That's just what Manny from Southeast season, you know?
12:29Appreciate you, Manny.
12:31Manny, I sure hope that comes true.
12:32How about Manny going third person?
12:34I wasn't ready for that.
12:35Manny said 4,100, 35 touchdowns, 70-7.
12:38I'll take that all day.
12:39Those are number numbers.
12:40Hell, yeah.
