00:00In Stockholm, Sweden, around 10,000 people marched against human-made climate change,
00:05just weeks ahead of a general election where the issue is among Swedish border's top concern.
00:11Since taking power in 2022, Prime Minister Ulf Kristolson, right-wing government,
00:17has cut petrol taxes and reduced requirements for petrol suppliers
00:21to add low-carbon alternatives to their mix,
00:25while also rejecting recommendations on ways to meet the 2030 climate target.
00:31Experts in Sweden and abroad have warned that the government's climate policy jeopardizes the country's emissions,
00:38current goals of reducing CO2 emissions from transport by 70 percent from 2010 levels by 2030
00:45and to achieve net-zero emissions by 2045.
00:49According to a variant opinion poll, 37 percent of respondents say that climate was a top priority
00:58in this next parliamentary election, said to happen on September 13,
01:02with the right-wing bloc trailing behind in opinion polls.
01:06The activist Greta Thunberg marched to.
01:12There's absolutely no party in Sweden who are even proposing politics in line with anything
01:20close to what science says would take for us to avoid a climate disaster.
01:26The sort of false image we have of either we continue like now or we do a sustainable transition
01:31is not true because we cannot continue like now.
01:36If we continue like now, we will see collapse.
01:38We are already seeing collapse.
01:39Because we need climate action and climate justice,
01:42and I deeply care and I'm really disappointed that politicians and people in general
01:49who have their resources and knowledge aren't acting the way the scientists are telling us,
01:54that we need...
01:54We need climate change.
01:54We need climate change.
01:54We need climate change.
