00:00Don't stop. Keep it coming, baby. Don't stop.
00:09Ah, yes. Welcome to the Shine Time NFC East preview show.
00:15And honestly, I am so excited for NFC East football.
00:19Feels old school this year where you can genuinely make a case
00:23why all four teams in this high-profile, pressurized division
00:28can ultimately make the playoffs.
00:30Like, it is not a hot take, and Vegas kind of agrees here to say
00:34Philly makes it, Dallas makes it, Washington makes it,
00:38the New York football giants make it.
00:40The energy and these monster markets in New York City
00:44and Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia and Dallas,
00:48the vibes and training camp, it's off the charts right now.
00:52And I want to start with the New York football giants
00:55who have the longest odds to win the NFC East,
01:00according to our good friends over at DraftKings.
01:02I don't agree with that.
01:03I think the Giants will ultimately, when it's all said and done,
01:08finish in third place in the division.
01:10I think the New York football giants are an absolute lock
01:15to hit the over on Wentz.
01:18The Giants will win eight-plus games this year.
01:23And I would be surprised if they didn't win nine or ten.
01:28And I don't know if I have the guts yet in early August
01:33to take the Giants a plus 255 to make the playoffs,
01:36but I will tell you I am very much considering taking the Giants
01:41as a playoff team.
01:42You want to monitor Malik Nabors and see if he's going to be healthy
01:45for week number one of the NFL season.
01:48But the Giants have a new sheriff in town.
01:51And having someone like Coach Harbaugh,
01:54John Harbaugh coaching this team up, it's everything.
01:57And the no-nonsense approach, and he's buttoned up,
02:00and he's telling Jackson Dart that he can't throw the ball
02:03at a DB's face.
02:05He's telling Cam Scadaboo that he can't flip at the Fanatics Fest
02:08or anywhere when he scores a touchdown.
02:11John Harbaugh is an adult.
02:13He's a winner.
02:13He's a champion.
02:14He is the right guy at the right time.
02:17Finally, after clown shows and has-beens
02:19and never-will-bees at the head coaching position,
02:23it's now John Harbaugh's team, John Harbaugh's show.
02:26I thought the Giants had a phenomenal offseason,
02:29trades, draft, free agency.
02:32I expect players to take massive steps forward
02:35under John Harbaugh's watchful eye.
02:37I was obsessed with the coaching staff he put together.
02:39I can't stress enough how much I love the Giants over seven-and-a-half wins.
02:45That's one of my favorite bets for this upcoming NFL season.
02:49And when you look at Jackson Dart,
02:51Jackson Dart should be able to take a major step forward this year.
02:55Look, year one is tough for young quarterbacks, right?
02:59I mean, you start your calendar year, you're still in school,
03:02and you're playing in ball games, you go to the combine, the draft process,
03:06and, you know, then you get to training camp, and you drink it through a fire hose.
03:09And I thought Brian Dayball, who I like,
03:12screwed everything up on when to play Jackson Darts for the Giants last year.
03:18And then, obviously, we saw what happened after the Denver game,
03:22and Dayball gets fired, and the rest is literally history.
03:24I think Jackson Dart is going to thrive.
03:26I think Jackson Dart is, he's got the swagger, he's got the athleticism,
03:30he's got the arm, has to learn when he can get out of bounds.
03:33I think he's got the moxie.
03:35And I also think that Matt Nagy is the perfect guy, right guy, right time,
03:40to coach up someone like Jackson Dart.
03:42And if you're a Giants fan, you daydream about Jackson Dart
03:46throwing the football to Malik Nabors.
03:48These guys have never worked together and completed a pass together
03:52and had that connection on display in an actual NFL game.
03:56And to have Malik Nabors healthy and Jackson Dart throwing him the football,
04:00that changes everything.
04:01And I hope that he's ready for week number one of the season.
04:04If he's not, not even that big a deal.
04:08Because even if the Giants lose when it's all said and done
04:12against the Dallas Cowboys at home and against the L.A. Rams,
04:18both those games in primetime, by the way, the schedule is soft
04:23and the Giants will be ready to handle adversity,
04:26something they couldn't do under any of the prior four head coaches
04:30ever since the team erroneously and foolishly fired Tom Coughlin.
04:35So I think the Giants, and we're raising the bar here,
04:38first six weeks of the season, they're going to start four and two.
04:41They've got a ton of dudes on defense.
04:43The offensive line is solid.
04:45I think the Giants, their upside here is to make the playoffs.
04:50Bang the over on wins.
04:52I can't stress enough how much I'm enthused by John Harbaugh
04:57and the New York football Giants.
04:59Giants have not only been bad for a long time,
05:01they've been unwatchable.
05:03Now they're going to be really good, really solid, really likable, and fun.
05:10When was the last time the Giants were fun?
05:14When was the last time you were proud of the Giants?
05:17This is going to be a fun year.
05:19I can't wait for it.
05:20This is the beginning of the beginning
05:22when it comes to John Harbaugh and the New York football Giants.
05:26My favorite team in the division, my pick to win the NFC East, the Dallas Cowboys.
05:34I am obsessed with Dallas.
05:36The best bet to me in the entire league, Dallas over for win total.
05:44They will win, my opinion, 12 games and maybe more.
05:49I think the Cowboys are loaded.
05:51By the way, a lot of good plus money here for the Dallas Cowboys.
05:53I like the over on wins.
05:57I like them to make the playoffs at plus 105.
06:00I like them to win the division at plus 235.
06:04And I'm telling you, right,
06:06if you want to sprinkle a little before the season starts,
06:10I think there's a real shot the Dallas Cowboys make the Super Bowl.
06:13I think there's a real chance the Dallas Cowboys win the Super Bowl.
06:17So I'll tell you, the long shot that I like here
06:20is Dallas to win the conference at plus 1,300.
06:24And to win the Super Bowl plus 2,500, I'm saying there's a chance.
06:30Seriously.
06:31But I will definitely play the over on wins to make the playoffs plus 105,
06:35win the division plus 235.
06:38And listen, it's going to come down to me for the Rams and the Cowboys
06:42on who wins the NFC.
06:43So I love that in terms of those long shot odds.
06:47Dallas to win the conference at plus 1,300.
06:50I think Brian Schottenheimer knows what he's doing.
06:52I think Brian Schottenheimer put together a terrific staff.
06:55I love Christian Parker now running that defense.
06:58I think Schott, he did an excellent job last year as a head coach.
07:02And I love what he did as a play caller for Dak Prescott.
07:05Look, we all know who the top five quarterbacks in the NFL are, right?
07:09You can debate the order, but it's the usual suspects.
07:13Dak Prescott, to me, is the sixth best quarterback in the NFL.
07:16And I think Dak Prescott will have this year the best year of his career
07:21because he has sanity around him and structure around him.
07:25There's no noise around the Dallas Cowboys, no contractual situations,
07:29nothing going on, nothing brewing, no Micah Parsons this
07:33or Prescott contract that or CeeDee Lamb this.
07:36And I think Prescott's going to have the best year of his career.
07:40I think CeeDee Lamb has Offensive Player of the Year vibes.
07:43I think that Lamb has the chops for the big moments
07:46and he's going to have a monster season.
07:48I think that George Pickens, giving him the franchise tag,
07:51dangling that carrot where Pickens is motivated by money and winning.
07:56And it's okay if it's in that order.
07:58You're going to get George Pickens, who's a terrific player,
08:01doesn't always try hard, can be a bit of a knucklehead.
08:04You're going to get Pickens on his best behavior.
08:06And this defense is vastly improved.
08:09I think that you look at Caleb Downs, that's going to be my pick,
08:13barring anything unforeseen, for the rookie of the year on defense.
08:15I love Lawrence, the other first-round pick, Malachi Lawrence,
08:18hitting to the quarterback.
08:20And a full season when you look at Quinn Williams on defense.
08:25And it's crazy.
08:27They trade Micah Parsons, they're better on defense.
08:30They are just better.
08:31And Williams was excellent after he went from the Jets to the Dallas Cowboys.
08:35I think Quinn Williams is a star.
08:38And I think he's going to get back to that first-team all-pro kind of level.
08:42Defensive line is solid.
08:43They're going to be, as we mentioned, brilliantly coached now under Christian Parker.
08:46They were a disaster last year under Matt Eberflus.
08:49I mean, just hearing that name makes you shake a little bit.
08:51I can't stress enough how much I love the Dallas Cowboys.
08:56This is going to be their time to shine.
08:58They're winning the NFC East and so much more.
09:01Now, I'm not going to hot-button or hot-take the Eagles.
09:04I do have them making the playoffs this year.
09:07I just think that, simply put, Dallas is better.
09:11I think Dallas has the better quarterback.
09:14I am not a huge Nick Sirianni fan.
09:17You know, Jalen Hurts is certainly under pressure this year.
09:21I don't think that there's any question about it.
09:24You know, I think that Jalen Hurts, you know, thrown over the middle, getting on their center.
09:29Sean Mannion takes over.
09:30It's another play caller for Jalen Hurts.
09:33You know, there's a new offensive line coach.
09:35Line is healthy, which is a good thing for Jalen.
09:37But, you know, obviously it's going to be different without Jeff Stoutland there.
09:42A.J. Brown got traded.
09:43And which, again, we all knew was coming.
09:45Now, Makai Lemon takes over.
09:48He's going to be, you know, a guy with Hollywood Brown who's going to have to ultimately pick up the
09:53slack.
09:53But I do think that Jalen Hurts is, it's troublesome.
09:58Now, I do love Devontae Smith.
10:00I think Devontae Smith, if you didn't know, you will know.
10:04He's a terrific number one receiver.
10:07He's so tough.
10:09He plays so big.
10:10He's a monster.
10:11I just, going back to his Heisman days at Alabama, he's just physical.
10:15He's speedy.
10:17He's one of my favorite players in the NFL.
10:19And this just in, Saquon Barkley, is still amazing.
10:22And, you know, even though statistically didn't have his best year, a lot of that, I think,
10:26is contributed to what we're talking about with regards to Barkley and the line and, you know,
10:31health of the offensive line.
10:33And also, they're trying to figure it out with Jalen Hurts.
10:35But I just think when it's all said and done that you are going to see Barkley get back to
10:40his status as a top two to five running back in the National Football League.
10:44Look, is he ever going to have that single season from a couple years ago when it was the greatest
10:49single season in NFL history at the running back position,
10:52regular season, postseason combined?
10:53That's up for discussion.
10:55Look, the defense is brilliantly coached with Vic Fangio.
10:58The defense is obviously loaded.
10:59Jalen Carter just got paid.
11:01Cooper Eugene is a star.
11:02They've got terrific players all over the defense, no question about it.
11:06I think that this defense is awesome.
11:09I think the defense can carry the day.
11:12I just think the Cowboys are better when it's all said and done.
11:16So, I thought Philly making the playoffs, I don't think they repeat, though, in the division.
11:21And I think that there are going to be a lot of eyes in the direction here of Jalen Hurts,
11:26and I don't think he's going to live up when it's all said and done.
11:30The Commanders, in a lot of ways, a conundrum.
11:33You almost forget that, you know, Jalen Daniels is around, which is really not fair, right?
11:39And, you know, I kind of like the under for the win total.
11:44I know a lot of people think they could be a surprise playoff team, and I do love that they
11:48signed Stephon Diggs.
11:50But, listen, I don't love Dan Quinn.
11:53I don't think he's a great coach.
11:54I think that Jalen Daniels is a superstar, and he's terrific, and he's tremendous.
12:00But something was off last year, and Daniels didn't stay healthy, and they're bringing a new play caller this year.
12:07And, you know, I don't think, even though I love the McLaurin-Diggs combo, I don't think there's enough around
12:12him.
12:13You know, the defense under Dan Quinn, and he's a brilliant defense of mine.
12:17I just don't like him as a head coach.
12:19I think the defense is good.
12:20I don't think it's great.
12:21I think the running backs are good.
12:23I don't think they're great.
12:24It's just, to me, clearly, when you look at the landscape here, I think they're clearly the fourth-best team
12:32in the division.
12:33So, I am not feeling the Washington Commanders in any way, shape, or form.
12:38And the only thing I would pick for Washington this year would be the under.
12:43I think this team has 7-10 written all over them.
