00:00There's a lot to unpack following a very controversial UFC 329 in Las Vegas
00:08as Conor McGregor's return to the octagon, if nothing else, was eventful, wasn't it?
00:14And if we go back in time, I had a weird feeling about Conor McGregor's return.
00:21And quite frankly, I'm not surprised how this kind of like played out.
00:25You know, I didn't know like whatever this knee was going to buckle less than a minute into the fight.
00:32But we've seen this in the past and something just didn't feel right to me about his return.
00:38And it's crazy to say that, you know, he should have taken longer or whatnot because he's, you know, he
00:44was off for five years.
00:46Right. But just like I said, the timing, the opponent, it felt rushed somehow.
00:53Wow. Right. It just did. Like the White House card was like the big card of the year.
00:59Right. So you had this big White House card and it was kind of an exhale in the in the
01:04UFC fan, you know, universe.
01:07And you've got the World Cup going on. That's just dominating the sports landscape.
01:11Like, yeah, Conor got pressed for a couple of days and stuff, but it wasn't like big, big.
01:17And, you know, they always the biggest gate and all that.
01:20Yeah, because you charge people like so much effing money and put that in context, guys.
01:25Think about that.
01:26Like the UFC sold out the Sky Dome slash Rogers Center in Toronto, where the Toronto Blue Jays played.
01:35And they had seats like on the floor, too.
01:38So it was like more capacity than it was for a baseball game, even.
01:42Like they literally sold like 56,000 tickets in Toronto once, yet had a bigger gate with like 19,000
01:50people in Vegas.
01:52Like it goes to show how much just more money they're charging, like to get in right now.
01:58And listen, when you're a fight fan, you know, you know, the fight might last two seconds.
02:03It might go like the distance.
02:04You don't really know.
02:05There's no guarantees.
02:07And you are there's going to be times where you're let down as a fight fan when you go to
02:12a fight like it's just going to be anticlimactic.
02:14And this is one of those classic examples where it's anticlimactic.
02:17Like, but it's not like if it's anticlimactic and you paid 150 bucks.
02:21It's different if it's anticlimactic and you paid 2,500, right?
02:25And 2,000 and stuff like that.
02:27Like the pricing is just absolutely insane for these events now.
02:33And that just caught my eye.
02:34It was like, wow, biggest gate ever.
02:36And you're in an arena and you've done a stadium show before.
02:39So what does that tell you?
02:41But it didn't feel right.
02:43And we talked about it like leading into the fight and stuff.
02:47In which it's pretty crazy that Conor fights every couple of years.
02:51And it's like this automatic, like free money to bet against him.
02:55Like he's past his prime, right?
02:56And people buy into him like, oh, 92% of the money was on Conor.
03:00There was that big late line move like earlier in the morning or whatnot when it shot back up into
03:06the, you know, the 330s and all that type of stuff.
03:09When it went down to the 200 range.
03:11But it didn't make sense for him to fight Max Holloway.
03:16Like Max Holloway is, you know, not in his prime.
03:19But he's still on top of his game per se.
03:22Right?
03:23Conor hadn't fought in five years.
03:25Holloway wanted revenge.
03:27It was a bad spot for Conor to begin with.
03:29It felt like a strange fight.
03:31Like why did they give him a cupcake to come back after five years?
03:34Like nothing good could come of it.
03:37Like Conor wasn't going to win the fight.
03:39Right?
03:40So like the only thing that Conor could have gained out of this was, well, he looked really good after
03:45five years.
03:47Right?
03:48Like that was like the only positive besides the reported $15 million that he got.
03:53Errol Helwani reported that it was $15 million.
03:56Or like the minimum of $15 million plus like bonus whatever type of thing.
04:01But so $15 million nevertheless.
04:04So he had $15 million reasons.
04:06But Conor is rich already.
04:08And $15 million isn't a ton of money to blow your knee and blow your leg out.
04:13And now your reputation out.
04:16Like listen, people will buy it again.
04:18Right?
04:19Like people will buy him again.
04:20People say, oh, he's done.
04:21And they're not going to, you know.
04:22So, no, but you can't, like it can't be a main event.
04:28You can't charge people like $2,500 for tickets and stuff like that.
04:33Right?
04:34And if you're Conor, you're only 37.
04:36There's time left for this, but not so much in the UFC.
04:40Right?
04:40He's got one more official deal, like fight left on his contract.
04:45And he could fight Jake Paul and Netflix.
04:48I mean, you know, look at the train wreck fights that Netflix are putting together.
04:51Conor could be part of that and make a lot more money.
04:54Right?
04:55And not really be in physical danger.
04:58BKFC, he'll be in physical danger.
05:00But he's a co-owner of BKFC.
05:02And he'll also be able to make a lot of money and not have to share it, right, with the
05:07UFC.
05:07As like per an employee.
05:10So Conor still has a future in fighting.
05:14I don't personally think it's like the top of the game or anything like that.
05:17But he won't want to go out like this.
05:20He'll want to go out with a couple of wins.
05:22I do believe that he will eventually fight in BKFC as well.
