00:00Taking a look at the overall footprint for the weekend. If you are on this map in this purple
00:04area, get ready for snow, ice, days of power outages possible, roads impassable for days.
00:11Yeah, this is going to be a big deal. It's going to be a high impact. We try to really just give
00:16it to you straight, not exaggerate any of the impacts here. And when we say this is going to
00:20be a big deal, there's a reason we're saying that. So let's dive into why. Well, I mentioned Dallas
00:25and showed you Dallas. You're right on the line where we see more of the freezing rain. This
00:30purple area, it's rain to ice, but it's really freezing rain rather than sleet. And that's where
00:34we get into a lot of issues. I mean, we're talking about widespread power outages possible. We are
00:41talking about so much freezing rain on the roads that they just remain too dangerous and could be
00:46closed for days in some areas. It all kicks off Friday, but continues through the weekend.
00:52When we talk about the ice overall, everybody stated on this map should be prepared.
00:57Now, I will say the worst of it from Dallas through Atlanta, especially Atlanta, we're talking about a
01:03big impact here because high traffic airport, we are expecting thousands of flight cancellations this
01:09weekend. This severe area, that's where the worst of the freezing rain is going to be. Now, further north,
01:15places like Charlotte, places like Little Rock and Memphis, it's more sleet compared to freezing rain.
01:20So the impacts, not as bad. However, it is still going to be a high impact situation for you,
01:27especially just considering the location here when we get into the southern U.S. I mean, you guys don't
01:31get a lot of winter weather, so a lot of you don't necessarily have the resources to clear the roads
01:37to get things safer faster. So that's why we're talking about days of impacts overall. So it's not
01:44just ice that we're going to be talking about. It's snow as well. So somewhere like Oklahoma City,
01:50we're talking about 6 to 12, even up to 20 inches of snow. I mean, that's a big deal just about
01:57anywhere, but just what I was talking about, the resources, it is going to be a big deal for really
02:04anybody on this map, even the 1 to 3. Kansas City, I know you tend to get some snow, but further south,
02:09it's going to lead to some slick spots on the roads, a lot of dangerous situations. So taking
02:15a look at how this plays out on future radar. Now this is the GFS model that I'm showing you
02:19specifically. I'm showing it to you because it's a longer range model, so it gets us a little bit
02:23further in the storm. The track, not necessarily the most accurate here, but gives you an idea of
02:29how long we're going to be dealing with the precipitation. So we're at Friday morning. I'm pressing
02:33play. There's the snow, there's the ice. We're into Saturday evening, Sunday morning. We still
02:39have snow and ice in Texas, even though we are now all the way to the east coast. That is another
02:44reason we are talking about multiple days of impacts. And the cold, well, it lingers behind
02:49too. So even when the northeast is getting snow, we're still going to be cold in Texas.
