Did you know people and you should we got championship football this week and not only in the NFL but in college football two games coming up this week Thursday night and Friday night the college football championships. The winner of those two games will play in the national championship game. Trinidad Chambliss is one of those quarterbacks that will be playing in the equivalent of the NCAA Final Four. But you know what he just got a new deal from Ole Miss pending his eligibility waiver being granted. He's seeking a sixth year of eligibility.
00:29Last I checked he was never heard at this point. He's getting a sixth year of eligibility. It's wild times to also understand this. You should press down the needle as much as you can. Like I should be reading about Chambliss gone. He's looking for his ninth year of eligibility because the courts can't stop him. And is it a free for all right now in college football depending on which circuit court judge you get. You might wind up with 15 years of eligibility in college football.
00:52Yeah I mean he was a former D2 quarterback I believe right. And then he took over Ole Miss. By the way he didn't start this year as the quarterback. I think they had three games under the belt then the injury to Simmons and then that was when he came in here and actually that's they're very lucky the injury did happen and brought him in there.
01:14But now the question is all right. So you go from D2 to SEC. Is there enough there to what to give him another year. I don't know. I mean with all the publicity that the NCAA has been getting for giving anybody extra year and having you know six years seven years.
01:34You know is it a guarantee that he's going to get that extra year of eligibility. We know he's going to Ole Miss. Good for him. But I don't know that it's a guarantee he gets it. That's the problem.
01:47Yeah 10 years ago we used to go like let's make something up. I want to transfer from North Carolina to LSU because my sick grandmother that I never see lives within 100 miles of the Baton Rouge campus.
01:58I'm like oh we're not going to allow that because that's an actual fake story at this point. They're all going through now. Just make anything up.
02:03Like hey I played Division 2 which is under the NCAA guidelines and I did go two years there but that's not fair because I always wanted to go to a bigger school and now let me in.
02:12And the judge is going like yeah let the guy in for an extra three years. Just what it is. Hey if you can make money continue to make more money. Bend those rules.
02:19Oh he's going to make a lot of money Donnie. Think about how much that ruling is worth to him because they will pay six seven million dollars to have him come back.
02:29The deal's already cut with Ole Miss. So we're talking millions now for this kid if he gets this test. I mean that's the difference between now and a decade ago.
02:39None of this was just like all right so now I got to go to minors. I got to go there. I got to do it. Now it's like hey dude there's seven million dollars at stake for me here if you give me another year of eligibility. It's crazy.
02:49And also like look at it from the new coach's perspective in Pete Golden. Like I got something really good right here. I'm in the first year of my contract. Like I need to have a good start right out of the gate.
02:58Otherwise the heat's going to be on me. You better pay this kid whatever he wants to come back because that's insurance for that coaching staff, the university, and the player himself. That's why they're in it.
03:08We take a look at another situation. Former Cincinnati quarterback Brendan Sorsby goes into the portal and gets millions of dollars from Texas Tech who has an unlimited payroll apparently here.
03:17And it says Sorsby's decision came in the wake of a 48-hour visit flurry that included Tech and also LSU going to the higher bidder.
03:25Like I don't want to I never wanted any kid to get paid because I just like the amateur athletics and the way NCAA football played out.
03:30But now that you can get paid every player on every football team should be in the portal every single year playing up a free agency that's designed to get you more money.
03:41There's no loyalty left. It's just about money. So go ahead and get it.
03:44That's all it's about. And it's going to be like that now until they actually figure this out and put some guardrails in here every year.
03:55Like, listen, he could go there this year, right? And then next year, let the bidding begin and go someplace out.
04:02I mean, that's what this is. It's become a minor league team. That's exactly what this has become.
04:08It's wild stuff here. And how about this, though? Put them in playoff games.
04:12We will watch and take a look at the Rose Bowl. Twenty three point nine million people watch that blowout between Alabama and Indiana.
04:19It just so happens that, you know, it draws well a meaningful football game in the middle of the day on a holiday.
04:26Just so it works out. That's why the NFL is like, hey, man, you know, this Christmas deal thing is pretty good in the afternoon games.
04:31No matter what teams we put on, we get millions. Look at that. Twenty four million approximately there for the Rose Bowl.
04:36You had the Cotton Bowl, which was Miami and Ohio State. Nineteen million.
04:39You also had Ole Miss and Georgia in the Sugar Bowl. Eighteen point seven million.
04:43And then you had the Orange Bowl, which is the early game on New Year's Day.
04:46So getting 16 million viewers. Turns out we like this strategy of having playoff football, Joe.
04:50Yeah. Big name programs, big name schools, quality competition. Go figure. People will tune in and watch.
04:59Not like, you know, watching Ole Miss or somebody beat up JMU versus or Tulane.
05:05Like nobody wants that, Donnie, ever.
05:08No, but you know what they want Thursday night football? Miami, the Hurricanes taking on Ole Miss.
05:13This line still sits, Joe, three and a half as a favorite towards the Miami Hurricanes.
05:17Ole Miss and Miami's total in this game, listed at 51 and a half.
05:22We've been talking about this game all throughout the week.
05:24And for me, I still think it has a legitimate chance to go over.
05:27I am a Hurricanes fan, so yes, I am wanting them to win.
05:29But this is a tough game, man. SEC, Ole Miss, ACC, Miami here.
05:34Yeah, it's a very tough game here.
05:37And I'm kind of shocked that we haven't seen a little bit more over money.
05:41But again, we're still seeing the hook available here.
05:44I mean, if these two teams are on level playing field, right, you know, having that,
05:49it could be a field goal game or it could be blowout city.
05:54And if that's the case, who do we trust more?
05:56You got to see more from Miami's offense, though, don't you?
05:59If this thing becomes a shootout, you got to know that Beck and company are capable of
06:04going toe-to-toe with what we've seen Ole Miss do.
06:07I just think that Miami's defense is a lot better than anything they just saw against Georgia.
06:15Yeah, Mesidor and Bain collapse in that pocket.
06:17But Chandler says, not one of those guys that's going to stand back there as a 6'6 robot.
06:21That guy can get out of dodge and make throws on the run.
06:23Should be a fantastic game as we watch their play out Thursday.

06:42Now we find ourselves with that look-ahead line, Joe, 3.5.
06:45We still sit at 3.5 across the board in a total of 46.5.

06:54Yeah, and, you know, the worry here is, don't forget, we had 30-20 to first go around,
06:59and that was in Eugene.
07:00But there were a lot of very interesting, not a lot of great offense by either side,
07:07but they were able to take advantage of turnovers and bad special teams.
07:11You know, this being 46.5, Donnie, I think is interesting because maybe the defenses dominate
07:18this one as well.
07:19I think our best shot for an over, to your point, is the Ole Miss-Miami game.
07:24I mean, this one could be a rock fight, and may the team who makes one fewer mistake,
07:29that's likely going to be the team that wins it.
07:32Both these teams will be, excuse me, both of these games will be played in a dome,
07:35so you get some clear spots here.
07:37If we're looking at some of those ticket counts, a lot closer, Joe, to 50-50 in that
07:41Miami-Ole Miss game.
07:42It's about 52-48%.
07:43Oregon and Indiana, everybody sees that Indiana team, and rightfully so, they're really good.
07:48They're getting the majority of the tickets over Oregon, but also, it is kind of interesting,

07:52We have the Miami game and Ole Miss, three and a half.

07:58Yeah, and usually, the spread doesn't come into play in these spots, so just pick the
08:03winner.
08:03Whoever it is that you like, pick the winner.
08:05It's never a situation where, oh, they just got us by the, no, it doesn't work.
08:10Usually, in these spots here, it's just pick the winner, and you're good to go.
08:15So, if you like one of these underdogs, don't be afraid to play them just on the money line
08:18because they likely win the game outright.
08:21You know, sometimes we look at, like, what TV executives like.
08:25Like, I always joke, like, oh, man, they ain't gonna like what these two baseball teams
08:28line up here when they could have had New York and versus L.A.
08:31Who do the TV executives actually want to get to the final, or does it matter?
08:35Like, Miami is always gonna be a big brand name.
08:37Ole Miss is still an SEC team, which they like.
08:40Oregon starts to get that national branding under the Chip Kelly years of 20 years ago.
08:44And then there's Indiana football, which is a fun story, but not a blue blood.
08:47If you had your druthers and you were an executive, Joe, at a network, what's your ultimate final here?
08:53Oh, Indiana-Miami.
08:55I think Indiana-Miami is what they want right now.
08:59Why the narratives and the storylines for both would just be maybe one of the highest-rated
09:04national championship games we've seen in a very long time.
09:07Like, when you look at college football, like, college football is better, like, when Miami
09:10and Florida State are going toe-to-toe as one and two in the country.
09:13Like, Miami winning a national championship is being back.
09:16There's so many haters.
09:17There's so many people that love them.
09:18It's really the perfect sport.
09:19And to go up against Indiana, the new kid on the block, if they win it, you gotta love
09:22it, man.
