00:02If you've missed out on the snow so far this year, well you may well see some flakes over
00:06the next few days.
00:07The cold spell is set to continue.
00:09Out there this morning is a very cold start to the day, a widespread frost in many areas
00:13and we do have further wintry showers falling mostly as snow, actual fact, across many parts
00:17of the UK through the course of today.
00:19The focus will certainly be once again across northern parts of Scotland where some frequent
00:22and heavy snow showers are likely for much of the day to come today, leading to further
00:26blizzard-like conditions across the higher ground with some fairly strong northerly winds
00:30gusting 30 to 40 miles per hour or more.
00:33Many central and southern parts of Scotland once again staying dry with a lot of sunshine
00:36here and certainly a drier day to come compared to yesterday for northeastern England and parts
00:41of East Anglia, blue skies but staying frosty well on into the afternoon.
00:45A subtle shift in the wind direction to more of a north-west will bring in more in the way
00:48of snow showers to Northern Ireland, parts of north-west England, Wales and the south-west
00:53of England as we go into this afternoon.
00:55So that may well be enough to bring a covering of snow in some places, but a lot of places
00:59in the south and south-east will stay generally dry and sunny.
01:03It will be another cold day, despite it not being quite as windy for many of us compared
01:07to yesterday.
01:08Temperatures struggling to rise much above freezing, highs to three or four degrees in
01:11the south, but some northern areas, particularly over the higher ground, staying sub-zero right
01:15the way through the course of today.
01:18Quickly turning frosty as we go into this evening.
01:20After dark, a widespread frost developing once again.
01:23The risk of ice on many surfaces.

01:29A band of some winter showers pushing southwards across parts of the Midlands, Wales, central
01:34southern England and the south-west through the course of the evening and into the early
01:37hours of Monday.
01:38It could also bring a covering of snow in some places too.
01:41Several centimetres across the moors of the south-west and parts of west Wales across the
01:44higher ground too.
01:46But once again, it will be northern Scotland, parts of Northern Ireland that see the most frequent
01:50and the heaviest snow showers through the course of tonight.
01:53Where skies stay clearest for longest and in rural areas, we could see temperatures fall
01:57as low as minus 10 or minus 12 degrees in the most prone spots tonight.
02:01But even in the towns and the cities, minus three to minus five quite widely.
02:06As we move into Monday, further snow and ice is likely in many parts of the UK.
02:10But a fine, dry and sunny day to come for many inland areas stretching from central Scotland
02:16down towards the Midlands and southern England.
02:18Here, barely a cloud in the sky for much of the day.
02:21Once again, winter showers affecting parts of Northern Ireland, Wales, the south-west.
02:25A greater focus for some winter showers across north-eastern England and maybe East Anglia
02:29compared to today.
02:31But once again, northern Scotland seeing the most frequent snow showers.
02:34Although even here, they won't be quite as heavy or as numerous as they would have been
02:38over the weekend.
02:40Another cold day to come though.
02:42Wherever you are, temperatures struggling to rise much more than two or three degrees
02:45above freezing for most.
02:46And when you factor in the breeze, which will still be fairly brisk across some north-eastern
02:49areas, it will certainly feel sub-zero.
02:53Now as we move towards Monday night and into Tuesday, we are expecting conditions to change
02:57ever so slightly.
02:58So we currently have an area of high pressure out towards the west of the UK.
03:01And as we go through Monday night, we're likely to see some slightly less cold air moving
03:05in from the Atlantic.
03:06And as the winds switch to more of a westly direction and this weather front pushes in
03:10from the west, we may well see more in the way of precipitation.
03:14Now that could take the form in terms of rain, sleet or snow, depending on where you live.
03:19But there is the potential for some travel disruption in parts of the UK, both on Monday
03:23nights and through Tuesday and into Wednesday.
03:24So do certainly keep in touch to the weather warnings over the next few days, especially if
03:29you have travel plans.
03:30There could well be some disruptive weather and some potentially snowy conditions in some parts
03:34of the UK.
