00:002025 introduced TV viewers to a neurotic studio exec, a happiness hive mind, and a couple hot
00:06hockey players. And that's just to name a few of the new characters that small screen audiences
00:10met this year. We're breaking down five new shows that had viewers glued to their screens in 2025.
00:16The Pit premiered in January 2025 and quickly became a massive hit for streamer HBO Max.
00:22We got skills! That was baptism by fire. That was more like baptism by blood.
00:28According to Warner Brothers Discovery, the first season averaged 10 million viewers per episode.
00:34But it wasn't just a hit with audiences. Awards voters loved it too. The Pit was nominated for
00:3913 Emmys in 2025 and took home five, including the awards for Best Drama Series and Outstanding
00:45Lead Actor for star Noah Wiley. Being here means no matter how good you are or how hard you try,
00:53someone might die. And there's more where that came from coming very soon. Season two of The Pit
01:02premieres on January 8th, 2026. Another new series that took the awards circuit by storm in 2025
01:07was The Studio. And I got into all this because, you know, I love movies, but now I have this fear that
01:16my job is to ruin them. The Apple TV Plus comedy about a passionate yet often ineffectual movie
01:23studio executive received 23 Emmy nominations, setting a record for the most nominations ever for
01:30a debut comedy. The show starring and co-created by Seth Rogen went on to win 13 Emmys, including the
01:35trophy for Best Comedy Series and set another record for the most Emmy wins for a comedy series in a single
01:41night. I get it. You want to make great art and make a billion dollars doing it. Well, guess what?
01:45That never happens. And you're going to screw everything up trying to make it happen.
01:49The highly anticipated series It, Welcome to Derry also premiered this year.
01:54Do you think somebody could kidnap a kid and keep him underground? In the sewers?
02:00The show is a prequel to the hit It Films, which adapted Stephen King's horror masterpiece about the
02:05small town of Derry, Maine. It's cursed by the presence of a shape-shifting killer clown that
02:10returns to murder a slew of children every 27 years. The new series, set in 1962,
02:15sees a couple and their son move to Derry just as a young boy disappears.
02:19We have 25 disappearances, seven confirmed deaths, mostly children.
02:30Plus, Ray Seahorn's reunion with Better Call Saul co-creator, and of course, Breaking Bad creator,
02:35Vince Gilligan, titled Pluribus, finally premiered in 2025. The show sees Seahorn play Carol Sturka,
02:41a successful author who is suddenly one of the last 13 normal people on Earth,
02:46when a virus born from an alien RNA sequence turns the whole planet into a hive mind.
02:51Seahorn opened up about the positive viewer response to the show at the Hollywood Reporter's
03:01recent Women in Entertainment Gala.
03:04One of the most gratifying things after you just get past relief, which is the main reaction,
03:09is the fact that it's inspiring so many conversations.
03:12And finally, the hot hockey romance heated rivalry premiered near the end of 2025 and quickly became a
03:18word-of-mouth breakout. The series is based on a novel by Rachel Reid and follows a romance over
03:33several years between two hockey players who play for rival teams, but can't deny their attraction to
03:38one another. Canadian streamer Crave says the show is its biggest original series launch to date.
03:43You can stream the series on HBO Max in the U.S.
03:46How much pressure do you feel from the fans, from the hockey world in general?
03:50I find it hard being so high-profile.
