00:00Well, the holiday travel rush is ramping up with the busy year-end travel period officially getting underway.
00:05AAA says this year it sets a break records with more than 122 million Americans expected to travel at least 50 miles between December 20th and January 1st.
00:14That's a 2% increase compared to last year and the highest ever recorded.
00:19So if you are one of those people, let's get you up to date with some tips to make it as smooth as possible.
00:25I know there can always be some hiccups. So if you are flying, first of all, your airline's app, great idea to have that downloaded.
00:32You'll get push notifications if you turn them on for any delays, cancellations, can help you know as soon as possible any changes in plan so you can start to adjust your plans to fit and still get where you're going.
00:43Make sure you add extra time getting to the airport and for connections in case of weather.
00:49If you are rescheduling flights right now, because I'm sure you already have them scheduled earlier in the day, is always better.
00:55Now, if you're driving, let's talk about the best times and worst times to head out this weekend.
01:00Noon to 8, 1 to 7, anytime in the afternoon and early evening, that's the worst time to drive.
01:05The most people are going to be on the roads.
01:07Your best time to head out Saturday is after 9 p.m., which I know might not be a fan favorite time.
01:12But Sunday before 11 a.m., early bird starts can really help you out.
01:16Now, if you're not traveling until next week, times change a little bit, worse times.
01:20But it really is isolated to the afternoon, early evening.
01:23That's always going to be your worst time because most people are going to be out on the roads at that point.
01:28Both Monday and Tuesday before 10 a.m. is your best bet.
01:31And good news, Christmas Eve.
01:32If you happen to be driving on Christmas Eve, minimal traffic is expected.
01:37The same thing goes for Christmas Day, so that certainly helps.
01:40Now, some of you might be driving through some snow.
01:42So plan ahead.
01:43If you can get out before the snow starts, that is your best bet.
01:46But make sure you drive slow and watch for slick spots.
