00:00Welcome to the video from the Car Magazine Tuning Block, where today's video is all about the new
00:06BMW CS87. An uncompromising powerhouse that not only impresses visually, but above all convinces
00:14with technical refinements and pure performance. After around 2 years of production of the current
00:20BMW M2 of the G87 generation, it is high time for an even sharper, more uncompromising top model,
00:27the new M2 CS, which already caused a sensation as a design study at the prestigious Concho Diganza
00:33Villard. Now BMW has finally released all the technical details and they clearly show that
00:40the new BMW M2 CS is the most powerful M2 ever. At the heart of this performance coupe is the 3.6
00:48cylinder turbo engine with the factory S58 codename, known from the M3 and M4, which has been boosted to
00:55a whopping 530 horsepower in the M2 CS. This represents a performance boost over the standard
01:02M2 and brings it on par with the all-wheel drive versions of the M3 and M4 competition in terms
01:08of performance. However, the M2 CS differs significantly in one respect, it remains a
01:15classic rear-wheel drive vehicle. The maximum torque is now an impressive 650 Nm and is transmitted to the
01:23rear wheels via a precisely tuned 8-speed M-step tonic transmission. The maximum engine speed is
01:307200 revolutions per minute. This power output is made possible primarily by a modified engine
01:37management system. But the drivetrain also features state-of-the-art technology, two Moncroll turbochargers,
01:46vetronic double Venus, an intercooler as well as optimized engine mounting and a specific cooling
01:52system including improved oil supply. A flap exhaust system with four mad black tailpipes ensures a
02:01particularly powerful sound. An even lighter version with a titanium rear silencer and carbon tailpipe
02:08trims can be configured using the M-performance parts. When it comes to driving performance,
02:13the M2 CS sets new standards. The compact sports car accelerates from 0 to 100 km per hour in just
02:203.8 seconds according to the classic measurement method. The so-called 1F rollout method delivers an
02:28even better value of 3.5 seconds. It goes from 0 to 200 km per hour in 11.7 seconds or 11.4 seconds with
02:38rollout. The top speed is an impressive 302 km per hour, made possible by the standard M-drivers package.
02:48The chassis has also been revised in line with the sporty ambitions. It sits 8 mm lower than the
02:55standard model and has been specially optimized for use on the racetrack in terms of suspension,
03:01damping and control systems. The M-sport differential, steering and adaptive chassis offer numerous
03:08adjustment options for individually tuning the M2 CS. Also on board are digital tools such as M-Drive
03:16Professional, the M-Lap Timer and the M-Drift Analyzer, which act as virtual driving lessons.
03:23The brake system consists of a compound system with red painted calipers as standard,
03:28but can be replaced with an even more powerful carbon ceramic version at an additional cost.
03:34The matte gold bronze forged wheels measure 48.3 cm in diameter at the front and 50.8 cm in diameter
03:41at the rear. The tires, which are available as Sport, Track or Ultra versions, are fitted in size
03:4727,535 at the front and 235 at the rear. Visually, the new BMW M2 CS underscores its exclusivity with
03:57targeted lightweight construction. The roof and boot lid are made of carbon, as are the exterior
04:02mirror caps and rear diffuser. The front splitter and kidney grille are painted black, which, together
04:08with the red M2 CS lettering at the rear, lends the car a particularly dynamic appearance. The overall
04:14length is around 4.6 m, the width is around 1.9 m and the height is around 1 per 4 m. The massive rear
04:22wheel arches and the pronounced side skirts emphasize the width and muscular power of the vehicle.
04:27The M2 CS is available in four paint finishes, sapphire black metallic, BMW individual velvet blue
04:35metallic, M Brooklyn grow metallic and Mortimau blue metallic. Adaptive LED headlights with anti-glare
04:42high beam function and dark inserts are fitted as standard. In the interior, BMW also focuses on
04:49consistent lightweight construction and high-quality materials. The center console is made entirely of
04:55carbon, as are the backs of the electric sports seats with merino leather. These seats are not
05:01only comfortable, but also functional for use on the racetrack, as they are prepared for the
05:05installation of multi-point seatbelts. A red 12 o'clock marking adorns the Alcantara-covered sports
05:13steering wheel, which also has M buttons for pre-configured driving modes. Additional setup functions can be called up
05:20via a dedicated button on the center console. The occupants are greeted by black door sills with CS model
05:27lettering and take their seats on sports seats with model-specific seatbelts. Red CS logos shine in the
05:35center console and on the door panels, while carbon fiber elements and an anthracite-colored headliner
05:41round off the interior. The curved display combines two screens, a 31.2 cm driver's screen and a 37.8 cm
05:52touch screen in the middle. Both offer M-specific displays and can be operated via the latest BMW
05:59operating system 8.5. Despite all the sportiness, comfort is not neglected either. Standard equipment
06:06includes the BMW live cockpit professional with navigation system, head-up display including augmented view
06:13function, and connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A dual-zone air conditioning system, heated front
06:21seats and a heated steering wheel ensure a sense of well-being, as do the comfort access system and the
06:27soundscape of the Harman Kardon sound system. Like the other M2 models, the BMW M2 CS is manufactured at the
06:35Mexican plant Stan Lewis Protossi. Production volume remains limited, although BMW has not yet announced
06:42a specific number. The most important sales markets are the United States, Germany and China. The market
06:49launch in Germany is expected in late summer. The base price is around 115,000 euros. As always, you can find
