00:00Welcome to the video from the car magazine Tuningbog about the VW ID.3.
00:07Volkswagen is launching a new economy version of its popular electric car, but not in Germany.
00:14The ID.3 is now available in China in a cheaper version with a lithium iron phosphate battery,
00:19which reduces the entry-level price to around €500 to €17,400.
00:24While German car manufacturers continue to focus on expensive SUVs and luxury vehicles,
00:31Chinese competitors are increasingly gaining market share with affordable electric cars.
00:36VW is responding to this with this cheaper version, which is only available in China.
00:42The new model variant of the ID.3 remains largely unchanged in terms of technology,
00:47but has some visual and functional adjustments.
00:50The lithium iron phosphate battery LFP, supplied by CAT-L,
00:56has a capacity of 53.6 kWh and enables a range of 451 km according to the CLTC standard.
01:05The quick charging time from 30% to 80% is around 48 minutes.
01:11Alternatively, a version with a nickel-cobalt battery NMC is still available,
01:15which charges somewhat faster but has a lower capacity.
01:20There are no price differences between the two versions.
01:24The electric motor remains the same as in the previous model.
01:27It delivers 125 kW, 170 hp and generates a maximum torque of 310 Nm.
01:35Fuel consumption is 3.4 kW, 100 km.
01:40The exterior of the ID.3 remains almost unchanged.
01:43However, there are two new color variants, beige and light blue.
01:46The A-pillar has also been partially painted black.
01:51The rim designs remain the same.
01:53There is still a choice of 18 or 20-inch rims.
01:57There are major changes in the interior.
02:00The central touchscreen has grown from 10 to 12.9 inches and now has narrower display bezels.
02:06The physical button that was previously located underneath has been removed.
02:10The center console has also been redesigned.
02:13It now offers a wireless charging surface for smartphones and two cup holders.
02:18The digital instrument display remains unchanged at 5.3 inches.
02:23Overall, the interior looks more high quality than before.
02:26The ID.3 is produced in China by SAR VW and is Volkswagen's best-selling electric car there.
02:35While German customers will still have to wait for a cheaper ID.3 variant,
02:39this model could help solidify Volkswagen's position in the competitive Chinese market.
