00:00What did we learn about Ohio State this week playing Iowa?
00:03What did we learn about Iowa?
00:05And then also with that, J.J. Smith, with what he's been able to do,
00:10they've got Maryland this week.
00:12But after that, it's Indiana, bi-week, USC, Oregon.
00:17That's taking you into November.
00:19And I feel like if you have a pretty good stranglehold,
00:21because those are going to be three games that are going to be watched
00:23by probably the majority of college football fans
00:27and Heisman voters and everything,
00:29I'm not saying he's going for 200 every game,
00:31but if he comes out of that three-game set with 500 total yards
00:35and five touchdowns and 20, 30 catches or something like that,
00:41I mean, I feel like at that point,
00:43it'll be his to lose heading down the home stretch.
00:46Yeah, I told my editor yesterday, and I was like,
00:49it's close to being over.
00:50And I'm trying not to use hyperbole,
00:53but he's the safest bet week to week.
00:55What we're seeing with quarterbacks is,
00:58I don't want to call it flavor of the week,
01:00but it's going to change every week.
01:02You know, last week it was Kamario Taylor.
01:04This week it's Keelan Russell.
01:05And if Alabama loses to Georgia, we'll go back to Darian Mensah.
01:10I do think CJ Carr will steadily, you know,
01:14move into this race and move up in this race as the weeks go on.
01:17But the one sure thing each week,
01:20absent an injury that causes him to miss a couple games is Jeremiah Smith.
01:25200-yard games are, and we're not even like blown away by it.
01:29That's the thing.
01:30We're like, oh yeah, that's what he does.
01:32And all of these big stage games left,
01:35Indiana, USC, Oregon, Michigan,
01:38possible Big Ten championship game.
01:40If he continues to produce at the rate that he's producing,
01:43I think it's going to be tough for any quarterback to catch him.
01:47And that's saying something about the season he's having to this point.
01:52Now, I was just saying, the Heisman Trophy,
01:54do you view that more as an MVP sort of thing?
01:58Or do you view it as we're giving this to the best player in college football?
02:01Because it really seems like it's kind of gone more towards MVP,
02:05where quarterbacks are always going to win it
02:07because they're naturally just going to be the most valuable player on those teams.
02:10Yeah, I got to tell two defensive guys
02:12that the quarterback's always going to win that thing, unfortunately, for you guys.
02:16Like, it is a quarterback award to a large extent,
02:21but it doesn't mean that, you know,
02:23when a Devontae Smith pops through like he did,
02:25or Travis Hunter pops through like he did,
02:28that a guy like Jeremiah Smith,
02:30who generally for two years you've heard the tag
02:34best player in college football attached to him,
02:38you know, it's hard to turn somebody like that away.
