00:00The world's richest man, Elon Musk, is returning to an official role advising Donald Trump's
00:05government co-leading a Pentagon study on the future of warfare.
00:08Defense Secretary Pete Hexed announced the study, which has been named Project Meridian,
00:13during a speech at the Quantico military base.
00:16The owner of Tesla and SpaceX, Musk will lead the project alongside
00:20Unreal Industries co-founder Palmer Luckey and former Republican House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
00:27Hexed said the initiative would bring together innovators,
00:30senior leaders and technologists to identify future military capabilities.
00:34His findings are due within 120 days.
00:38Musk previously headed the Department of Government Efficiency,
00:41overseeing sweeping federal job cuts before leaving in May 2025.
00:46His companies already have major ties to the Pentagon, including SpaceX satellite work
00:51and a military agreement involving his artificial intelligence company, XAI.
