The High Court on Monday (Sept 7) adjourned proceedings in the civil suit filed by Tan Sri Shahrir Samad against former Attorney General Tan Sri Tommy Thomas, former MACC Chief Commissioner Latheefa Koya, and two others, to facilitate settlement negotiations among the parties.

Judge Gan Techiong ordered the adjournment after Shahrir's counsel Datuk Firoz Hussein Ahmad Jamaluddin informed the court that his client and the defendants were discussing a possible resolution of the matter.

00:33confirmed settlement discussions were underway and did not object to the adjournment.

00:41Shahrir, who had been due to continue his testimony, filed the suit in December 2023
00:46against Thomas, Lethifa, the M.A.C.C. and the Government of Malaysia, alleging malicious prosecution.

01:26Shahrir was acquitted in January 2023 of failing to declare the 1 million ringgit to the Inland Revenue Board.
01:33The parties are due back in court this Wednesday.
