Several significant predictive references to future film based on the comic book superheroes of Marvel (known for The Avengers, X-Men & Spider-Man) may appear in 1983 horror anthology Nightmares. In the second segment "The Bishop Of Battle", actor Emilio Estevez stars as J.J., an arcade video game ace, Billy Jayne (Parker Lewis Can't Lose) plays his friend Zock & James Tolkan voices the game adversary.

- At the 27 min. 35. sec mark an arcade cabinet is shown for 1979 Cinematronics game, Starhawk (unofficially based on Star Wars (1977) Episode IV: A New Hope). Stakar Ogord of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is also known as Starhawk, played by Sylvester Stallone in Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 ('17) & Vol. 3 ('23).
- Stallone also co-wrote & stars in '93 action thriller Cliffhanger with Guardians Yondu actor Michael Rooker.
- At the 26 min. 3 sec. mark Estevez & Jayne's characters escape the gang in the city arcade. There in the street is the marquee for a movie theater and one of the films listed as playing is First Blood (1982). This is the original Rambo movie starring Stallone as a war vet pushed too far.
- An arcade machine shown frequently in "The Bishop Of Battle" is the 1981 shooter Pleiades. A galaxy is part of this game's visuals.
- Stern's 1980 Galaxy pinball machine is shown in one arcade, the company would later produce a game based on Marvel's Guardians Of The Galaxy 35 years later.
- Estevez's character wears a portable cassette tape player (like a Sony Walkman) and plays music through headphones to get in the zone to beat the video games. I thought this similar to Quill / Starlord (Chris Pratt) in Guardians who also carries a tape player and mix tapes into outer space.
- Actor Billy Jayne was interestingly, in a 1998 TV beer commercial.

00:05possible major predictive Easter eggs to the Marvel Cinematic Universe of comic book based superhero films
00:14present in the 1983 horror anthology Nightmares, directed by Joseph Sargent and written by Jeffrey Bloom and Christopher Crow.
00:24The cast consisted of Christina Raines, Anthony James, William Sanderson, Lance Henriksen, Richard Mazur, and Veronica Cartwright.
00:35For this video, I will focus on the second segment, The Bishop of Battle, featuring Emilio Estevez, Moon Unit Zappa,
00:43and Billy Jane.
00:45James Tolkien provides the voice of the game adversary, The Bishop of Battle.
00:50The second story in the anthology, this is around 25 minutes long, Estevez's character is JJ, a video game ace
01:01or wizard.
01:02This is set in 83, before home consoles and computers became commonplace in the household.
01:11Back in those days, if you wanted to play video games, you went into arcades.
01:15So watching this, I started to get a Marvel vibe.
01:20It really started to sink in at the 27 minute, 35 second mark.
01:25And there you'll see an arcade cabinet for the 1979 game entitled Starhawk.
01:32According to Wikipedia, Starhawk is unofficially based on the original Star Wars film, episode 4, A New Hope, 1977.
01:42Now Marvel fans will note Starhawk is the name of character, Stacker Ogord, associated with Guardians of the Galaxy.
01:52He's played by actor Sylvester Stallone in the movies.
01:56He appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 in 2017 and Vol. 3 in 2023.
02:05Now Stallone was also in the 1993 action film Cliffhanger with another Guardians of the Galaxy actor, Michael Rooker, who
02:14played Yondu.
02:15Alright, so having introduced this relationship, you can scan this segment and find many other connections.
02:22An arcade machine that's featured frequently in Nightmares is the 1981 shooter Pleiades.
02:31Yeah, and you can note the visuals shown here. A galaxy is part of the background.
02:36Stern's Galaxy pinball game from 1980 is also shown in one of the arcades.
02:41Amazingly, 35 years later, Stern would produce an official pinball game based on Guardians of the Galaxy.
02:50Estevez's character wears a portable tape player, similar to a Sony Walkman, and wears headphones.
02:57And yeah, I thought this similar to Chris Pratt's character in Guardians of the Galaxy.
03:03He played Quill or Starlord.
03:05He also has a portable tape player headphones and his own mixtapes of music that he carries along into his
03:12adventure in outer space.
03:14At around the 26 minute, 3 second mark, Jane and Estevez's characters escape the gang and run out into the
03:23street in front of the arcade.
03:25And there on the left hand side of the screen is a movie marquee.
03:29And one of the titles listed is First Blood, the original Rambo film from 1982 starring Stallone, Richard Crenna, and
03:40Brian Dennehy.
03:41Interestingly, Billie Jane, who plays JoJo's friend Zoc, he was in a 1998 television commercial for Bud Light Beer with
03:51Avengers Hawkeye actor Jeremy Renner.
03:54My YouTube channel is Easter Egg Psychic.
03:56There I go back and look at movies and television from the past.
03:59I analyze these for possible references to future media.
04:03These may appear in the form of anecdotes, idioms, anagrams.
04:07Hidden in the subtext of the work in question, I also use an unconventional method where I look at the
04:13likenesses of the actors.
04:16And what I found is you can take the likenesses, match these up to some of the anecdotal items,
04:22and show past, present, and future information about actors and other personalities
04:28that may resemble the personalities in the movie or television episode that you're watching.
04:34My email contact is easteregguy, that's G-U-Y, at yahoo.com.
04:42Thanks for watching.
