00:00We'll start with Mark in Landover Hills.
00:02Mark, do you think they can get this ship figured out by week one in Philadelphia?
00:08I'll tell you guys, I listen to you guys all the time and enjoy you.
00:12You know I enjoy you immensely, especially you, JP, and Brian on the show,
00:16and Jeff and Ryan.
00:18But I've got to say it, man, that they have totally paid no attention
00:22like Nicky just got done saying and you've been saying
00:25and Brian's been telling them, and I'm not freaked out about it.
00:28But I'm pretty sure, man, that if they don't change things
00:31in the way they're thinking, that those first four games of the season, guys,
00:35Brian and Doc have been trying to tell them they don't listen.
00:39You guys played.
00:41But, man, I think a few of the Lee sisters are going to show up,
00:45as we used to say when I was growing up, and one of them is going to be ugly.
00:49And if they don't change their ways, it's going to be gaslight.
00:53And they're not going to like it, and the fans aren't going to like it
00:56because of their hard-headed, won't-listen attitude of not playing people
01:01and getting them in football shape like Brian and Doc have been telling these people
01:06from day one.
01:08And I'm not really excited about what I'm seeing,
01:11and I don't think it's going to bode well for the season.
01:13And I'm not saying they can't turn it around before the end of the season,
01:17but we have to remember, man, that they have a new offensive coordinator
01:22and a new defensive coordinator.
01:24And the guys are not going to be in football shape in that first game.
01:27They better hope that Philadelphia's got a few guys that aren't in football shape.
01:32And, man, Brian is right once again.
01:35And, hey, man, that's why I listen because I know he knows what he's talking about.
01:38Appreciate you, Mark.
01:40Man, because you're right.
01:41Take care, dude.
01:44Let's go to Sean in Falls Church.
01:47Sean, what's up, bud?
01:48Hey, guys, I appreciate you taking my call.
01:51I am less than optimistic about that interior.
01:55I think that if we come out one and two,
01:59I'd actually be pretty excited about that with just the way that, you know,
02:02things went yesterday in Baltimore.
02:05Yeah, I don't think that the center position is going to be something we stop talking about.
02:10I think this is a conversation that will be continued throughout the beginning of the season,
02:15especially if Alec Reddy is not healthy.
02:17I do think that another center is going to be signed.
02:20I think Humphries, actually, depending on how well he picks up everything,
02:24I think bumping him outside and then moving Coleman inside to take over for Paul
02:27in that guard position might be something that they're looking at,
02:30depending on how well Humphries, again, picks things up.
02:33Well, dude, it's an interesting call, Sean.
02:37The other thing to consider that I know nobody wants to hear,
02:41it's entirely possible there's more injuries,
02:43and that eventually they have to move Coleman around because he's versatile
02:46and Humphries has to play or Wiley has to play.
02:49Like, they're banged up now.
02:52Two months from now, they could be more banged up.
02:54Yeah, but I mean, the thing we're focusing on now is the center.
02:58And I know everybody keeps saying, sign somebody, sign somebody, sign somebody.
03:02Does that solve the problem?
03:04Like, you can go, Nicky has said, you want a veteran guy.
03:08If they got a third-year guy who can actually play,
03:10who cares about if he's played nine, ten years?
03:13Because if somebody letting a guy go that played nine, ten years,
03:16they don't think he's very good.
03:18That's why they're not keeping him around.
03:20So, my whole thing is the signing someone does not solve the problem
03:25if the guy comes in and he may not be able to play.
03:27He may not come in here looking like we expect him to look.
03:30So, the whole thing is getting this group, whoever they are,
03:35the five are, to work with great cohesiveness.
03:38If you get that done, you can change up this whole thing.
03:41I don't think just the one person is going to make a break.
03:45So, one thing I do find interesting that I pulled this up,
03:48Nicky mentioned the two players in Buffalo,
03:52where the projections are Connor McGovern,
03:55who's a seventh-year pro out of Penn State,
03:58was a third-round pick in the 2019 draft.
04:02Two seasons ago, McGovern started 16 games at center for the Bills
04:07and made a Pro Bowl.
04:08Last year, they moved him to guard, started 16 games at guard.
04:11The projections are that McGovern is going to go back to center this year.
04:17That also leaves Lloyd Cushenberry,
04:20who I think signed as a free agent with the Bills this offseason.
04:23Another former third-rounder.
04:25He's from LSU.
04:26He was drafted in 2020.
04:29Cushenberry has played center all of his career.
04:32Last year, played 15 games at center for the Tennessee Titans.
04:37These are both veteran players with younger players behind them.
04:42If you're just trying to do the math of who could possibly get released
04:47that has real experience,
04:49if a player like Cushenberry hits free agency,
04:53that is a veteran center that knows the position.
04:56That's what he's done his whole career.
04:58And both of these guys, if you just look at the math,
05:03Cushenberry's playing for the true vet minimum.
05:07He'll clear 1.2.
05:10Nothing is...
05:11He's got about a million bucks guaranteed.
05:13And then if you look at McGovern,
05:15he's got about $2 million guaranteed.
05:18Like, maybe,
05:19because the Bills consider themselves like a real Super Bowl contender,
05:22maybe you roll with two veterans like that.
05:24Maybe you're not going to release either of those players
05:27because McGovern has versatility,
05:29has started in lots of places for you
05:30if somebody else gets banged up.
05:31But, like, that's kind of what you're looking at
05:34looking ahead to next week.
05:36I understand.
05:37And that's the thing about it.
05:38And I suspect that they will sign somebody.
05:43But if the person walks in
05:45and we don't see the instant jump,
05:50are we back in the same situation about what they're not doing?
05:53It has to look better than Detroit.
05:56It has to look better than Baltimore.
05:59Yeah.
05:59But, like, I think to assume that there's, like, this fix,
06:04that there's, like...
06:05That's the question I keep asking
06:08because I hear,
06:09just like the thing about trade,
06:11and you say, okay, well, who are you going to get?
06:12A fire, who are you going to bring?
06:14Go get someone.
06:16If someone is being released,
06:18somebody don't think something about them.
06:20And if you go get that guy,
06:23unfortunately, you may find out why somebody released them.
06:26Dylan is in Fairfax.
06:28What's up, Dylan?
06:29Hey, what's up, guys?
06:31What's up?
06:31Man, we just have the most pessimistic fan base.
06:35Like, we haven't played a game yet.
06:37Like, I understand the concern.
06:38There are things to be concerned about,
06:40but they haven't even played a game.
06:42And people are calling for Quinn to be fired
06:45and that, you know, Adam Peters just draft busts
06:49and everything like that.
06:50But, I mean, the way these guys are taught,
06:53we may as well just put Jaden in a cast,
06:55cut Sonny Styles.
06:56I just, look, maybe we'll be terrible,
06:59but, like, let them play a game, you know?
07:01Like, they have not even played yet.
07:04And we've got people that are just ready to burn it all down.
07:07I just don't get it.
07:09Appreciate the call, man.
07:11It's a fair point.
07:12They haven't played a game.
07:13Jaden Daniels said that.
07:14He's like, it's August 20-something,
07:17and we don't play until September 13th.
07:19Dez is in Waldorf.
07:21Dez, what do you think about this O-line?
07:23You freaked out come week one?
07:25Hey, J.P., I'm kind of like with the last call
07:28and something with B. Mitchell,
07:29he was just saying, like, all of this talk
07:32about all this negativity, bro,
07:34I ain't even seen a game yet.
07:36Got him playing.
07:37Nick Alavradi is a good player.
07:38If I hear Tyler Bjarke's name one more time,
07:40I'm going to go crazy.
07:42Everybody acting like he wasn't undersized last year.
07:44He was some godson to the center position.
07:47Like, he not even know how to play for the Chargers.
07:51We don't even be paying attention.
07:52Like, all this negativity about the offensive line, bro,
07:55let them play.
07:56We wasn't the great offensive line.
07:59There wasn't nobody playing too much this.
08:01This game ain't even a game.
08:03They ain't even a star check.
08:04Like, it was practice, bro.
08:06Practice these old artists.
08:07Ain't nobody post Antonio Williams
08:09cooking their defense,
08:11but everybody all on our offensive line
08:13and what we ain't doing.
08:14It's crazy.
08:16Appreciate the call, man.
08:17Let's go to Juan in Fairfax.
08:20Juan, what's up, dude?
08:22What's going on, guys?
08:24Gentlemen, what's happening?
08:26Ain't nothing too much.
08:27But, look, I think they'll get everything situated.
08:29I think everybody's just, you know,
08:31just going head over heels on how the offensive line is.
08:36I think they're going to get it situated
08:37and they're going to get it straight
08:38because if they don't,
08:40if they don't and they come out week three
08:43when they play Seattle at home
08:45and the offense is looking like they did
08:49when they went for the scrimmage against Baltimore,
08:52the stadium is going to boot it.
08:54So they're going to get it situated.
08:55They're going to get it right.
08:56And I'm going to the Seattle game.
08:58So I know, you know what I'm saying,
09:00if they're trying to sell all these ticket season,
09:02season tickets and everything and stuff,
09:05and they want all this stuff to be all good and glorious,
09:07they have to get this offensive line right
09:09because if not, the fans are going to let them hear it.
09:12You know what I'm saying?
09:13You got to.
09:13There's no choice but to.
09:15So that's my point.
09:16Y'all have a great one.
09:17All right, man.
09:18Appreciate you, Juan.
09:19One thing that's interesting is three months ago
09:22when people felt reasonable about Allegretti at center,
09:26people were still freaked out about the opening schedule.
09:29And now it's like, oh my God,
09:30the schedule with the center situation.
09:32I don't remember the time
09:33when anybody was reasonable about Allegretti.
09:35I've been hearing nothing but negativity
09:37since they let the Otis go.
09:38I don't know.
