Six individuals, including a woman, pleaded not guilty in Johor Baru to kidnapping Singaporean Al-Shameer Abdul Nassar for a S$20,000 ransom.

All six also faced a separate charge of abducting Singaporean Zayraella Xie Manting, while three faced an additional gang robbery charge over a stolen necklace and Rolex.

00:01Six individuals, including a woman, have pleaded not guilty to kidnapping a Singaporean man
00:07for a ransom of 20,000 Singapore dollars.
00:10The accused, M. Balamurugan, aged 46, K. Saravanan, 40, G. Puganeswaran, 38, S. Gobinath, 38,
00:21Adwin Nicholas Xavier, 41, and P. Sridevi, 41, were charged under the Kidnapping Act,
00:28which carries between 30 and 40 years jail and whipping upon conviction.
00:33The offence allegedly took place in Skudai on August 8.
00:36All six also face a separate charge of abducting a Singaporean woman between August 8 and 11.
00:44Balamurugan, Saravanan, and Gobinath faced an additional gang robbery charge,
00:48accused of taking a gold necklace and a Rolex watch from the Singaporean man.
00:53Bail was set at 50,000 ringgit for the kidnapping charge,
00:5710,000 ringgit for abduction, and 9,000 ringgit for robbery,
01:01with conditions barring contact with witnesses.
01:05Separately, Saravanan and Puganeswaran pleaded guilty to causing hurt to the male victim
01:10and were fined 3,000 ringgit each.
01:13All cases were set for mention on September 23rd and appointment of lawyers.
