Chris Hemsworth discusses the on-set anxiety that comes with performance, revealing that he finds playing confident characters to be the most difficult task and often struggles with self-doubt.
Transcript
00:00Chris, was it difficult for you to play someone who's not overtly charming?
00:04He was overtly charming!
00:06Thanks.
00:07Not the performance, but Mike is a little.
00:09No, to be honest, playing someone who's supposed to be charming and charismatic and confident
00:18is, I find, the most difficult thing to do because it's...
00:22I think who you are, you step onto a set and all that energy's pointing directly at you
00:27and there's a lot of anxiety, there's a lot of questions and you prep every angle of the script
00:36and every angle of the scene, but you've always got that in the back of your head.
00:40If you're allowed to exploit that insecurity or those questions and put it on camera, then
00:46it feels very authentic.
00:48I find the scenes where I've had to play charming and confident, the whole time I'm like,
00:52you're a fraud, this looks ridiculous, that looks...
00:54You know, so they all have their challenges for different reasons, each character, but
01:00I sort of find it's a little easier to inhabit someone who's a little more uncomfortable.
01:06That's interesting.
01:07Because I find it a little uncomfortable.
01:09And exciting, you know, and thrilling and all that.
