00:00Just hours after Zambia's Electoral Commission suspended vote counting nationwide,
00:05opposition presidential candidate Brian Mamdoubil raised grave concern,
00:10calling for full transparency amid reports of violence.
00:14According to the results received and compiled through our Parallel Voter Tabulation, BVT,
00:22based on information transmitted to us from polling stations and totalling centres across the country,
00:29our tabulation indicates that we have won this election.
00:33We have won this election both at presidential level and majority seats in Parliament.
00:40We therefore view the continued delay in the transparent announcement
00:44and verification of presidential results with grave concern.
00:49Zambians went to the polls Thursday amid economic hardship,
00:53with President Hakai Ndehi Chelema seeking another term against opposition candidate Brian Mamdoubil,
01:00a former government minister.
01:02The pattern of reports reaching us raises legitimate fears
01:05that this delay could create an opportunity for interference with or manipulation of the results.
01:14We call for the immediate publication of the results in accordance with the law
01:20and for all stakeholders to be given access to the relevant electoral records
01:25so that the will of the Zambian people can be independently verified.
01:31Some 8.7 million voters were registered while Zambia expanded Parliament from 156 to 226 seats.
01:39Presidential results were expected Monday.
