Zambia suspends vote counting after election violence

00:00Zambia's Electoral Commission has suspended vote counting nationwide after reports of violence disrupted the country's general election.
00:08The commission said attacks targeting election officials were reported in several districts,
00:13with some incidents involving the theft of marked ballot papers and ballot boxes.
00:19Chief Electoral Officer Brown Cassaro said the suspension would be reviewed within 24 hours.
00:26The election held on Thursday was dominated by concerns over the economy,
00:32with President Akainde Ichilema seeking a second term against opposition challenger Brian Mundubile, a former government minister.
00:41Even before official results were announced, Mundubile declared victory,
00:46while Ichilema said his campaign was receiving what he described as encouraging results.
00:51In a message on social media, Ichilema urged the Zambians to remain peaceful, patient and patriotic while awaiting the official
