00:02Semaphore's iconic workers club targeted.
00:04So they broke in here, smashed the heritage window, came in through here.
00:08They spray painted two yellow swastikas on the 100 year old beard tables
00:14and then they stole a painting from up here.
00:18The offensive symbols painted onto the felt in an attack earlier this week,
00:22leaving a damage bill of about $15,000.
00:25I was pretty disgusted when I saw it.
00:28These are the tactics that these people use,
00:30and so people may not be too surprised, but it's highly offensive.
00:34Police are investigating the break-in,
00:36but those at the club believe it was politically motivated.
00:39The Semaphore work club is a progressive club,
00:41so it's supposed to the left of the centre,
00:43but we represent those standard good old fashioned Australian values of equality,
00:48support for First Nations people, support for migrants, support for trade unions.
00:52The Premier condemning the attack.
00:54The displaying of the Nazi symbol in South Australia is a crime, for a good reason.
01:00I am really worried about extremism that I see on the farthest reaches of the far right
01:05and on the farthest reaches of the far left.
01:07Community members already offering donations.
01:10We oppose Nazis at all times, and always have, always will, but we won't back down either.
01:16The workers club has invited the wider community here on Friday to stand together in solidarity
01:20and show that it will not be intimidated by vandalism or hatred.
01:25The club had this message for those behind the attack.
01:28The majority of people in Australia fought against that.
01:30It's a retrograde, disgusting ideology.
01:33Thank you very much for joining us.
01:33You know Meany and Farms, Winston-Beratley,
01:33it's a great white authority for a celebrity community.
