00:01That day changed the lives of many people here in Pereira.
00:07Right now we are in the Providencia neighborhood, which is all of 21st Street.
00:12Many houses, buildings, and structures were completely destroyed.
00:18Many people are still searching.
00:21It was one of the areas most affected here.
00:38Three people lived here: a bald man who was like a tenant, the lady's son, and the lady herself.
00:44The two bald men managed to get out, but the lady, being an elderly person, could not.
00:50He managed to get out and the house collapsed.
00:52The lady remained in the lower part where the hole is.
01:00We made the wooden posts here to support this part so it wouldn't fall over.
01:05And through that opening, we started with the civil defense to remove the rubble, and that's where things really got going.
01:10The lady found.
01:11Unfortunately, at first the lady would answer; we would come in from this side to call her.
01:16But at first she responded, and then the lady stopped responding.
01:20Sadly, the woman was taken out dead.
01:30At times like these, one truly realizes that the most important things are life, family, and these
01:36Things take a back seat, everything material.
01:39The important thing is that from the moment we have life we can again, as they say, like the peri bird, rise from the seed.
01:47Now we need to start getting back on our feet, with a lot of resilience and always trusting in God that His plans are good and that
01:55Ultimately, many times we are searching for success, and we already have it; that's truly life and...
02:00family.
02:12We are currently in Providencia, helping in any way we can.
02:16At this site we have everything you need in terms of medicine, gauze, and other supplies for any emergency.
02:23We also have food distribution, delivering groceries, providing lunches, giving food to those who need it, and also electrolytes for those who are
02:31helping with construction, collecting rubble, searching for people.
02:41We have an approximate count of 30 houses that collapsed in the Providencia sector, which is why we are focusing on this area.
02:48moment here,
02:48Seeking to improve connectivity within the city, which is currently very congested, we want to free up these roads that
02:57They are arteries for the western part of Pereira.
03:01We brought the entire operational plant with all the governor's machines, all the operators; there are approximately 450.
03:07Volunteers are currently organizing this event; many people are supporting us.
03:13The action plan we have, roughly 16 dump trucks, 9 machines operating at full capacity, we are trying
03:21To remove rubble, we have collected more than 300 buckets so far.
03:34It's something we Pereirans have, we unite and support each other, and at that moment it really happened
03:40I've seen a lot of solidarity from the neighbors, from all the people who have come to help.
03:46For the most affected people, there are several collection centers.
03:50Well, it's all very sad, really, we don't know how long it will last, right now we're just thinking about how we have to be.
03:55In unity, in support, to have peace of mind and to help each other as much as we can, but well, how could we not
04:02We really know what awaits us.
04:24Thank you.
