00:01At least eight people were killed and several injured after a student opened fire on Friday
00:06at a high school just north of the Thai capital, Bangkok. Local authorities said three students
00:12and three teachers were killed in the assault at the school in the Nontheburi province. A man and
00:18a woman were also found dead in the home of the student. National police said that the two adults
00:23were the suspect's grandparents, whom he had shot dead using his grandfather's handgun before
00:28proceeding to school. Fifteen other students were injured, not by gunfire, but as they were trying
00:34to flee. The shooter, who was identified as a student of the school, was also reported dead.
00:39It is, however, unclear how he died. Some reports claim police killed the suspect,
00:44while others said he died by suicide. Thailand has one of the highest rates of gun ownership in the
00:51region. However, past promises of tightening gun laws have not prevented repeated shootings.
