00:00Another great point here coming on the text line.
00:02Luckily, our first three opponents, their defense don't really put fear in anybody's heart.
00:07Even more, even more the reason why we should learn a lot about those offenses.
00:15All right.
00:16Buffalo's been a bend but don't break defense.
00:19Now, they have made some additions as well and changed coaches.
00:23But they've been a bend but don't break type of defense.
00:29The Cowboys and the Bengals have just basically held their teams from even going anywhere with their defenses.
00:38But both of those teams' defenses look different.
00:41Both of those teams' defenses have had some additions.
00:45Dexter Lawrence and Cincinnati, they actually just went out free agency, got four or five dudes.
00:50And then the Cowboys, they started doing their business in the middle of last season.
00:55Quentin Williams, who, listen, C.J. Stroud knows full well about Quentin Williams.
01:03Quentin Williams over there.
01:05Rashawn Gary, they've added on their defense.
01:08So, Caleb Downs, the rookie a lot of people love.
01:11They've gotten there.
01:11Overshown should be back and more healthy.
01:14Lawrence, who they picked up in the draft as well.
01:16Kenny Clark from last year.
01:18So, they have made some additions.
01:21Their secondary looks like it could still be given to business.
01:27But, yeah, those defenses.
01:29But those defenses, those are not the Texans or the Seahawks.
01:32For damn sure.
01:34And so, even more, I think it lends to we should really see the offense be able to hang with
01:42those teams.
01:43Yeah, Ron, I think that's the point.
01:45I mean, we know that our defense, when we run up, or we don't know, we at least expect that
01:52more times than not.
01:54When we run up against another, a team with another really, really good defense, and it's going to be a
02:01defensive battle.
02:03Nine times out of ten, our defense is going to be better than theirs.
02:06Nine times out of ten, their offense is going to make a bunch of mistakes, and our offense is not
02:10going to make mistakes.
02:11And you're going to have a really good chance to win that game.
02:14Odds are that our offense is not going to do what they did in that game against New England and
02:21just completely mess the bed.
02:22Right?
02:24We know that when it's a defensive matchup, we're probably going to win that battle.
02:30And when it comes to playing really good defense and not turning the ball over and not beating yourself,
02:34I think Nick Casario and D'Amico Ryans have built this team to do just that.
02:39The question is, is when we run up against offenses that can score in a hurry, if and when that
02:45does happen,
02:46one, is our defense good enough three out of four weeks to keep that from happening?
02:51I think they're good.
02:53I don't think they're that good.
02:54Not in 2026.
02:54I mean, we watched them.
02:55Even though they played really well against the Patriots, the Patriots did have three touchdown drives.
03:01Yeah.
03:01Full field drives on them in that divisional round game.
03:05So, you know, I think it's going to be impossible to shut those offenses down the way that you need
03:09to
03:10or the way that you're going to other teams.
03:12You know?
03:13And when that happens, is our offense at the very least good enough versus, let's call it just suspect defenses,
03:22not great defenses, are we good enough to make up the difference?
03:27Yeah.
03:27All right, let's see where we are right now.
03:29It's early, but you can give us your thoughts as well.
03:34Where do you see the Texans?
03:35How many games you got them in?
03:37What's the record for the Texans in your eyes when you look at this schedule?
03:42You've gone through it, Clint.
03:43Let's start with you.
03:44Where do you see them?
03:46Who do you see them losing to?
03:48What's the record you have for them, and who do you see them losing to?
03:50This is going to piss some people off.
03:53Good news is I think we're probably going to be a little different here.
03:56My losses for the Texans this year.
04:00Bengals.
04:00One.
04:01Cowboys.
04:02Two.
04:03Jags.
04:03Three.
04:04Chargers.
04:05Four.
04:05Ravens.
04:06Five.
04:06Eagles.
04:07Six.
04:08Packers.
04:09So you got them 10 and 7.
04:1010 and 7.
04:1110 and 7.
04:12That's what they were the first two years of D'Amico Ryan's, and they went 12 and 5 last
04:21year.
04:22You got them going 10 and 7.
04:24So you got them getting off to a bit of a slow start, losing to the Bengals and the Cowboys.
04:29I think they can start 2 and 2.
04:30But look, I think that run of quarterbacks, what we've been talking about for two days now,
04:34I think that first month, I think that's, I mean, that is a big ask for our defense to
04:41dominate those games, even though you got them at home, to dominate those quarterbacks,
04:45those offenses, those games.
04:48I think that's a lot to ask, and so I got us splitting them first, too.
04:52I think we're 2 and 2 out of the gate.
04:542 and 2.
04:54So you go 10 and 7, and I don't assume you have them winning the division.
04:58You got them as a wild card.
05:00I got them as a wild card.
05:01I got the Jags winning the division again.
05:02We split with the Jags, and to be honest with you, I think the Jags are the only team
05:06that I got beating us in the...
05:07That's what I said.
05:08Yeah, 5 and 1 in the division, I thought, yeah.
05:10So yeah, I got us.
05:12I mean, I think we'll be right there in the mix with the division, but I think the Jags
05:16win more than 10 games.
05:17I think the Texans win the division, and I have them losing to the Bills, the Jags in London.
05:25I just think the Jags will have been there for two weeks, and you're coming in there.
05:30I think that may have something to do with...
05:33And the Jags are a good football team.
05:34I think the Ravens, and then I think that back end of those road games, cold weather road
05:41games, I got the Commanders, Eagles, and Packers get them.
05:45So I have them at 11 and 6.
05:47I got them at 11 and 6.
05:49And to me, I think the superpower for the Texans and everybody that doesn't have this, some
05:58of the best teams struggle with this.
06:01The Rams, I think, struggle with this.
06:02The Ravens struggle with it.
06:04Is they don't lose to teams that they're not supposed to very often.
06:11And I especially think the way they're built now.
06:14Their floor is so high, and D'Amico has this group.
06:20This is not an offense or a defense that ever plays in a way of overlooking their opponent.
06:26Right?
06:27They will never...
06:28Their offense isn't good enough to do it to begin with.
06:31Their defense could be, but that's just not how they're wired or structured.
06:35They don't care if it's the Raiders.
06:36They don't care if it's the Bills.
06:38They don't care who it is.
06:39They generally play the same way.
06:41So I don't see them tripping up against teams like the Browns or the Titans or anything,
06:47or the Giants.
06:48I think they win all the games they're supposed to.
06:50I got them at 11 and 6 winning the division.
06:52Where are you at, Tyler?
06:54What's your record?
06:55What's your losses?
06:56I got the Texans winning 12 games next season.
07:00Step up.
07:00Okay.
07:01Yeah.
07:0112 and 5 with the five losses being first.
07:04I think the Texans come out of the gate, win the first four weeks of the year, get this
07:08fan base in this city all hyped up.
07:11And then I think in week 5 at the Titans in Nashville, I think they lose that one, first
07:15loss of the year.
07:16Really?
07:17Yeah.
07:17I just can't see them losing to that team.
07:19It's tough to see, and I hope I'm wrong, obviously.
07:21But that's first loss I have.
07:23Then week 11 and 12, back-to-back losses to the Colts and then the Ravens.
07:28Really?
07:28Both at home at Reliant.
07:31Thursday night football week 16 is the fourth loss for the Texans at the Eagles with all
07:36those crazy asses in Philadelphia.
07:38And then week 17 at the Packers at Lambeau for Monday night football is their fifth loss
07:44for me.
07:44Yeah.
07:44I think we all see that back half, those road games, back-to-back, those back-to-back, which
07:50sucks because they're going to be national TV games, tough ones on the road against the
07:54Eagles and the Packers as potential trouble spots.
07:58I'm surprised you have them losing to, I think, teams that I would look at on paper and say
08:06they are clearly better than and they should win.
08:10And that's very fair.
08:11Colts and the Titans.
08:13In-division.
08:14That in-division factor is kind of what the thinking is there.
08:18People are telling Clint to lay off the crack for some reason.
08:21I knew that second team I named, I knew they were going to be there.
08:23Come on, Clint.
08:2410 and 7.
08:25That's crazy.
08:26We'll be favored in 13 or 14 games.
08:28Crack cocaine?
08:34Hell no.
08:3513 and 4.
08:35Somebody said play Sylvester Turner.
08:3814 and 3.
08:39Play Sylvester Turner.
08:40Losses to the Jags in London, Philly in the Colts.
08:44There's some people rolling in here.
08:46Yeah.
08:47Oh, no.
08:47Clint told you they'll win 10 games.
08:50He never promised that he had to win it more.
08:53I mean, any double-digit predictions, fans should be worth and hyped about.
08:56I'm going to tell you, if 10 is the floor for me, I don't think there is a chance in
09:00hell
09:01that they don't win 10 games.
09:03Hell yeah.
09:04Unless there's a rash of injuries.
09:06Well, yeah, that could change.
09:07But even there, I mean, it would have to be.
09:09It would have to be.
09:10The right ones.
09:11It would have to be the right ones.
09:12It would have.
09:12Yeah.
09:12I mean, it would have to be Hunter Brown, Alvarez, Hayter.
09:16Yeah.
09:16Well, even if guys for the Texans get injured, it's a long season.
09:19Yes, yeah.
09:20Oh.
