00:00Hello, very good day to you. Many parts of England and Wales will see increasingly sunny skies as we go
00:06through this afternoon,
00:07but it's a different story towards the northwest of the UK.
00:10Here we have a waving front that's pushing its way through, but it's kind of going to stall.
00:14And so, yes, particularly towards western parts of Scotland, there's going to be a fair amount of rain as we
00:20go through the rest of Tuesday and into Wednesday as well.
00:23Lots of cloud as well for much of Scotland and Northern Ireland through this afternoon, but like I said, brighter,
00:29sunnier skies across much of England and Wales.
00:32The cloud breaking up. In some places, it was a bit cloudy this morning towards the south, even a few
00:37spots of drizzle, but that's all clearing away now and lots of blue sky instead.
00:41With that blue sky then, temperatures are a fair few degrees above average for the time of year across much
00:47of England and Wales.
00:48We're looking at them peaking in the mid-teen, size of around maybe 15, 16 Celsius, perhaps a few degrees
00:54fresher than this towards the north because of the cloud,
00:57because there will be some rain around and also worth factoring in, there could be some strong gusty winds, particularly
01:02over the Pennines, for example,
01:03but those winds will be easing as we go through the day.
01:07Into the evening and sticking with the cloudy and rather wet theme towards northwest of the UK,
01:12the highest rainfall totals as we go through today and into tomorrow will be across western parts of Scotland.
01:17We could see maybe 30 to 50 millimetres building up and over sky, for example, we could see a little
01:23bit more than that,
01:24enough to cause a little bit of disruption perhaps.
01:26And as we go through the night, we are going to see that rain filtering its way more across parts
01:31of Scotland
01:31and across the whole of Northern Ireland, perhaps fringing into western parts of Wales and the southwest England.
01:38And so, yes, turning a bit wet here, but across much of England and Wales, staying dry, lots of clear
01:43skies are around.
01:44And as a result, well, two things to factor in.
01:47It is going to be a bit fresher towards the southeast than it will be towards the northwest,
01:52where temperatures really aren't going to drop a huge amount from the daytime highs.
01:55But towards the southeast, they could get as low as 6, 7 Celsius, that kind of thing.
02:00But also worth bearing in mind there could be some mist, some fog around,
02:04initially over parts of East Anglia earlier on in the night,
02:07and then through the early hours of Wednesday morning, some locally dense patches of fog,
02:12anywhere sort of south of the M4 corridor, and that could cause some disruption,
02:16some travel issues first thing tomorrow morning.
02:19Then through Wednesday itself, a bit of a northwest-southeast split.
02:24Northern and western areas, cloudy.
02:26There will be rain at times, even some blustery winds feeding up through the Irish Sea as well.
02:31Always the more persistent rain likely across western parts of Scotland.
02:35This is where we'll have those highest totals building up.
02:37But towards the southeast, sticking with the fine, often sunny theme,
02:42particularly across parts of East Anglia, London, Kent.
02:45And here, temperatures are going to be even higher than today,
02:48exceptionally mild for the time of year.
02:50We're looking at highs of around 17, 18, possibly 19 Celsius.
02:55So elsewhere, it's not going to be as mild as this.
02:58But nonetheless, well, if we compare these temperatures to average for February,
03:03and you can see most places are going to be a fair few degrees above average,
03:07markedly so, though, towards the southeast with that sunny weather that we're expecting.
03:11Temperatures, yeah, around 7, 8 degrees above average for this stage in February.
03:16In fact, it could be even milder than that in some places.
03:19Then later this week, well, it is going to be a bit more unsettled.
03:23There will be low-pressure systems rattling through coming in,
03:26and so we're going to see some rain pretty much everywhere we'll see some rain at times.
03:31It's going to be heaviest, most persistent towards western areas, as we often see,
03:35but most of us will see some wet weather at points.
03:38And with that, there will also be some strong gusty winds to watch out for,
03:42and temperatures will be dropping down from those, well, exceptionally mild highs
03:46that we're going to see through Wednesday,
03:48while they're going to be dropping closer to normal as we go through this week.
