00:00Hi my lovelies, I'm Renee Daniela and this is Essence Homestyle. Welcome to my
00:05home. I always tell people when you start with your interior design, start
00:14with what you love, not with what somebody else is doing or what's trendy
00:17or what's popular and then also think what do you want to do in this house. I
00:21wanted a space that I can have community, that I can invite my friends into and
00:25host them in my beautiful dining area. That I could also come and get dolled up
00:29for the evening in my co-office and sit in my beautiful moody bedroom and just
00:33pull away from the world and eat in my own space. So I really took creative
00:38freedom and free will and I went room by room and I curated my space to be for
00:43the woman that I aspire to be. So my kitchen might be one of the rooms where I
00:51took a bigger risk when it came to my decor and design. I absolutely love
00:56purple. I was actually inspired by this artwork I purchased when I was at Leki
01:00Market in Lagos, Nigeria. And so when I first moved into this house, I popped my
01:04artwork up here in the kitchen and that first image was the one that really
01:08inspired. There's a beautiful deep plumb in my kitchen. And then I started
01:12including different accents. So then I added the Calacatta Riola marble and I've
01:16added different accents with my shelf styling. Look at these beautiful pink hues and the way
01:22they don't sit with this teal vase or even this one. Both of these are from the
01:28Temi Koka and Walmart collection and they just bring pops of color to different
01:32pockets of my room. I didn't want any aspect of my day-to-day life in my home to be
01:37mundane. I wanted everything to be romanticized. I wanted everything to have an
01:41element of joy and playfulness. In this house, every room is almost like a
01:46playground. This is a preview file. For example, this is my Clothis. It's a mix of a
01:52closet and an office and it was actually inspired by my love of Sex and the City.
01:56I had this custom built because I want to display all my shoes and my bags and all
02:00my accessories. And I have this beautiful mural. It has this gorgeous black woman and
02:05she is depicted in this beautiful like Moroccan landscape. I've come to over 65
02:10countries. I would need to walk in this house and feel a little bit of
02:13inspiration from all of those. So I have artwork I've picked up in Nigeria. Even
02:18this rug is from a Nigerian-American designer. His name is Temi Koka and he
02:21has a gorgeous collection at Walmart. So this is the latest piece I added to this
02:25room and it looks stunning. And even this little bench I'm on, it was a DIY. I used
02:31an old curtain to turn it into this gorgeous bench. I have a fabulous surprise
02:36that I definitely want to show you guys. It is a hidden closet. Okay, from first
02:41impression, this is simply a closet. Once you open these doors and you part my
02:47fabulous robe collection and you walk in, you will find the original closet that
02:52came with this space. All the pieces in this room are just feminine and
02:56colorful and beautiful and really help express myself as a black woman. I will
03:02say I have zero interior design background. I wouldn't even say that I'm
03:05particularly artsy, but as a content creator and an influencer, I knew when I
03:10was gonna buy this house that I need each room to have its own personality and its
03:14own vibe. Welcome to my bedroom. So first thing you notice in this room is
03:19definitely this beautiful moody burgundy color. But then we also have this
03:23gorgeous mural, which if you get nice and close, you'll notice that it has this
03:28gorgeous texture to it. It feels almost like feathers. And then I have my beautiful
03:33bed, which even here I wanted to make sure I added some more texture. So these
03:37gorgeous cushions are from the Temi Koka collection as well. You'll notice
03:40they're a bit similar to my rug and my cloth face. This is a DIY vanity. I fell in
03:45love with a version of this online and I realized that it was a little out of my
03:49price range and so I decided to DIY it and it turned out absolutely fabulous. I
03:55wanted it to be in this absolutely gorgeous deep color tone, this burgundy, because I
03:59was color drenching this whole room. And just off my bedroom is my beautiful
04:04bathroom. I absolutely love this room. It's also color drenched a little bit. I've
04:08got lime wash and texture on the walls and then I've got this gorgeous mural that
04:12really kind of brings the outdoors in. It's just these gorgeous palm leaves. I
04:17literally have my own little ritual where I'll take my bath soaps, my bath suds and I
04:22will just sit back and relax. I'll light my candles, I'll put myself a little show on and I
04:27will really just unwind and I love it. One of the biggest takeaways I've had from
04:32my home decor interior design journey is just creating a space that truly reflects me. The person who
04:38moved into my home four years ago and the person I am now completely evolved. I feel
04:43like I've gotten more comfortable in my femininity, more comfortable in my
04:47independence as a woman. I feel more empowered in my space and now you know
04:51through sharing my home online and my interior design I have found the most
04:55beautiful audience of women. I feel as though I create my space for myself but I
04:59also create it for women out there who are looking for that kind of
05:02inspiration. Now thank you all so much for coming and featuring new home. It has
05:06been a pleasure to be a part of Essence Homestyle. I hope you all loved it.
