00:00We're self-caring, okay?
00:02We've got our robes, we've got our masks,
00:05and we've even got some DIY bath and body products.
00:08Yes, and I know what you're thinking.
00:10We can't DIY anything.
00:12Aren't these the same women who put baby poo in their hair down one time?
00:15Yes, but today we have some help.
00:18Right, Nikki?
00:19That's right.
00:21We've invited Nikki from Divine Luxury to teach us
00:24how to make these cool DIY bath products,
00:27and in this video, you're going to learn how.
00:29So I'm Nikki, I'm the creative visionary behind Divine Luxury Bath & Body,
00:33and so today we're going to be making two wonderful items,
00:36a scrub as well as a bath salt mixture that you can use in the tub.
00:40So I use two different salts for two different reasons.
00:42I use a dead sea salt that's actually from the dead sea,
00:46and it contains 10 more minerals in it than a regular sea salt does,
00:49so that's going to help really pull out those toxins in our body.
00:52I also use an Epsom salt because Epsom salt is good for swelling,
00:55so if you have swollen legs, swollen ankles,
00:58being on your feet all day, then that's going to help with that.
01:01So that's why I combine the two to make the bath salt.
01:04Nice.
01:05You want to start with about two to three scoops.
01:07And so I also have different botanicals that we can put in here.
01:11We have rose petals, which are really great for the skin.
01:13They help soften the skin.
01:15Chamomile is really good for relaxation, and lavender is too.
01:19And then we have another one called calendula.
01:22So what kind of botanicals do you like, Nikki?
01:24I love lavender.
01:25Okay.
01:26I love the scent of it.
01:27Okay.
01:28So what are some of the properties of lavender?
01:29So lavender is really good for relaxation.
01:31It's calming.
01:32It's been used since ancient times, and I'm just going to pour a little bit in here.
01:36Right?
01:37And there's no set amount.
01:38I just eyeball everything, and then you just mix it together.
01:41It makes it look really pretty.
01:42But lavender is really good for relaxation.
01:44You use lavender a lot at night time to help you sleep as well.
01:48Okay.
01:49So while Nikki mixes that, tell us more about how you thought of your business and how it came to be.
01:54Okay.
01:55Well, I didn't really have like an Oprah aha moment or anything like that, but I've always wanted to be an entrepreneur.
02:01And I wanted to leave something for my children.
02:04Oh, okay.
02:05So I love to cook, and I love beauty.
02:07So I decided to go with bath and body.
02:10Okay.
02:11Actually, the very first product that I ever sold was the bath salts, and my husband bought them from me.
02:16So.
02:17He was.
02:18That was sweet.
02:19He was.
02:20I feel like beauty can really make a person feel good about themselves.
02:23Yes.
02:24And so that's just my way of giving back to women to, you know, help build them up and uplift them.
02:28Nice.
02:29Yeah.
02:30And then we all love beautiful skin, so.
02:31Yes.
02:32We do too.
02:33This is rose.
02:34Yes.
02:35These are actual rose petals, and actually rose has been used since the ancient times as well.
02:38It helps soften the skin.
02:40So you can put that in your bath, and these botanicals are really good.
02:43They're not going to harm your drain or anything like that.
02:45So yeah, just sprinkle them all in.
02:47Yes.
02:48This is calendula.
02:49I used to call it calendula, but I call it calendula.
02:52And calendula also is known as marigold.
02:55This one is really good for your skin as well.
02:56Okay.
02:57Like if you have any inflammation.
02:58Oh, let me get in on this action.
02:59Do you think it's getting this little dash?
03:01Yeah.
03:02So yeah, it's really good for the skin as well.
03:04Like if you have any skin issues, any body acne or anything like that, that also helps
03:08with redness of the skin.
03:10Okay.
03:11So that's what I'm saying.
03:12Baths are everything.
03:13Baths should be bae again.
03:14So now how we can kick this up a notch is we can add some oil to it.
03:18And so I have my own bath oil mixture that I make.
03:21Okay.
03:22And then so you can add a few drops of the bath oil, right?
03:24And this has really good ingredients like avocado oil, apricot kernel oil, jojoba oil,
03:31and grapeseed oil.
03:32And then so we're just going to mix that together.
03:34And you just add a few drops.
03:35Okay.
03:36And you can also add scent to your bath salt mixture.
03:40Which is this right here.
03:41Yes.
03:42And I have some really great scents.
03:43I think Nikki should smell the lavender real quick.
03:45Okay, yes, because she loves lavender.
03:47Yes.
03:48The lavender is always good.
03:50And especially if you're taking baths at night.
03:51So you want to start out with a little bit.
03:53So we'll start out with about five or six drops.
03:56Divine Luxury is actually your side hustle.
03:58It is.
03:59Right?
04:00So you have a full time job.
04:01I do.
04:02Your mommy, your wife, your friend.
04:04So how do you balance all of this?
04:06There is no such thing as balance.
04:08Okay.
04:09Let's be real.
04:10There's no such thing as balance, but I have to find time to do these things
04:13because this is something that I love.
04:15And eventually I want to leave that good government job that I have.
04:18Okay.
04:19And you know, do this full time.
04:20So I make time.
04:21I have to make time for the family.
04:23Yes.
04:24Make time for this.
04:25And you find where you can fit everything in and you just go from there.
04:29So yeah, there's no real thing as balance when you're a mother, a wife, and an entrepreneur.
04:33True.
04:34True.
04:35I don't know if you ladies love vacation like I do, but being laid up on the beach, baby.
04:39The sea salt.
04:40Oh, the salt water.
04:41Yes.
04:42Have you ever noticed how the salt water does your skin?
04:44Like you don't get at you.
04:45Like you come out the water.
04:46Your skin is amazing.
04:47And you're like, oh my God, it's so soft.
04:49Yes.
04:50That's the same concept behind taking a bath in the salt mixture.
04:54Nice.
04:55Oh, I love it.
04:56This is it.
04:57This is yours Nikki.
04:58Oh my God, I love it.
04:59Yes, you used to be asking that on camera.
05:00Yes, honey.
05:01Divine Luxury is going to get your life together.
05:03Yes.
05:05So we just finished making our bath salts and now we're going to make a body scrub.
05:09Yes.
05:10So essentially the body scrub use the same ingredients as the bath salt does.
05:15Evelyn, if you want to put about two scoops in here.
05:19I'm going to add a couple of rose buds to this.
05:24Not too many because, you know, they're just for pretty purposes.
05:29But what I am going to add is the bath oil.
05:32And again, remember the bath oil has all the good stuff in it.
05:35The grape seed oil, the avocado, the apricot kernel, and we're going to add a lot.
05:39Yeah, I was thinking, so you add more since it's a scrub.
05:42Yes.
05:43Since it's a scrub.
05:44And then we want to add some fragrance to it.
05:50And the Revitalize is great.
05:51It's a mixture that I made that has eucalyptus, lemongrass, and rosemary.
05:55And so those are really good for the mussels.
05:58And so you can use the scrub in the shower.
06:00Yes.
06:01And I always use the scrub the last thing, like after I take my bath or shower, then I do the body scrub.
06:06And then I always start with my feet and work my way up to my heart.
06:09Oh.
06:10Because you want to get that blood flowing and pumping to the heart.
06:13Yes.
06:14That's a strategy.
06:15Okay.
06:16Yes.
06:17It's science.
06:18It's steps to this lifestyle.
06:19Now, the thing about the salt scrub is these don't have any preservatives in them.
06:23So you don't want to put this directly in your shower.
06:26You want to take out what you want to use and then put that in the shower.
06:31So like you take what you need out and put it like on a saucer or a little bowl.
06:34Okay.
06:35And then you take it in the shower with you.
06:38So you're going to get you a little bit of scrub.
06:40So this is just like you would do it in the shower also.
06:42And so what this does, now you see how your hands feel, kind of like just feel how your hands feel before you do your scrub.
06:48Okay.
06:49Nikki's are probably rough.
06:51Reptilian.
06:52We don't like any crusty hands.
06:54Okay.
06:55And so all you would do is just take the scrub and you just really want to rub it, rub it, rub it.
07:02Ooh.
07:03Get it in there.
07:04And so you just want to do this in a circular motion.
07:07And you can see it's really not rough on your hands or anything.
07:10Yes.
07:11I love that.
07:12So yeah, do the body scrub about once a week.
07:14You don't want to do it more than that because we do need oils on our body and our skin.
07:20And doing scrubs too much can actually dry you out.
07:25Yes.
07:26Look at that.
07:27You see all of that glistening all over my body.
07:31Yes.
07:32Now imagine how your hands feel.
07:34Just imagine how the rest of your body would feel.
07:36The whole body.
07:37The whole body.
07:38Yeah.
07:39And then we would just towel dry, pat our hands.
07:42That's another thing.
07:43Whenever you're taking a bath or a shower, don't be so quick to rush and rub it off.
07:47Okay.
07:48Do pats.
07:49Yes.
07:50Ooh.
07:51So soft.
07:52Now that we're all ready to luxuriate, where can people find your stuff?
