00:17to ask before you get that sew in. First and foremost, it's great to have the conversation
00:21so that you really know what you're getting into before you get the weave and that way you're
00:25able to manage your expectations and know what you're getting yourself into. The first thing I
00:29would ask is, how do I prepare my hair for the weave? That is a big one. Another thing
00:35is, how long can I keep my weave in for? That's a big one. That is a huge one. I think a lot
00:40of times at my salon, we'll have people come in and they'll get a weave and they're like,
00:44oh well I thought I could keep this in for six months and it's like, no. So once again,
00:49managing expectations, you've got to know that before you go in. One thing that's really big
00:54for me is just about protecting your real hair underneath the weave. So sometimes I say,
00:58okay, as your stylist, what do they do to protect your edges? In addition to what to do to prevent
01:04any breakage, but also how is your hair going to grow from it? How can you get the best benefits?
01:08Which is the fourth for a lot of people. They wear a lot of wigs and weaves just to really
01:13help their hair grow. Absolutely. So a protective style, get it to grow, absolutely. And then the
01:18fifth thing I would say is, what are the absolute no-no's? What should I never do before I come
01:23in to get a weave? Because you would be surprised. Some people can come in and perm their hair
01:28that morning and are just like, I am ready for you. And you're like, no you're not.
