Ouidad salon stylist explains how to properly detangle natural hair.
Transcript
00:00So I'm here with Ayana, a We Dad Salon Professional, and she's going to give us her top tips on how to get started.
00:24So this is Adima, and we're going to start detangling her hair, and I'm going to show you the proper way
00:29on how to detangle, naturally, curly hair, or just hair in general.
00:35What we'll do, we'll need to start with the hair has to be very wet, and what we want to do is you want to hold the hair at the base,
00:41and we have two detangling cones. We have either a single one, we also have a double detangler.
00:48The double detangler I'll probably prefer if your hair is like really, really, really thick,
00:52and you just really want to get in there and get all those tangles out. This is actually the best one to use.
00:58Also, we have another single one. For girls with finer hair like myself, or I'm just wavy hair,
01:05this is actually a really good detangler to use as well.
01:08Okay, so for Adima's hair, we are actually going to be using this single detangler,
01:12and what we're going to do is you want to hold at the base, and you want to get any snarls out at the ends.
01:18And once all that is completely detangled, you can actually section the hair from ear to ear,
01:25and you can clip with either a duckbill clip, a butterfly clip, and then again, you want to hold at the base,
01:34and you want to get those snarls out, and then you just keep on moving your way up continuously,
01:39and just gently getting all those tangles out. And once you're done with that, you can just start on your next section,
01:46which it can be either temple to temple, again, you section it off again, and pull at the base,
02:03you don't want to pull the hair out from the roots, you don't want a lot of hair in the comb, gently detangle the ends,
02:10and then just move your way up. And there you have it.
