00:00Let's go to Dave in the city.
00:02Hi, Dave.
00:02Thank you for calling Willie and Debbie.
00:04Hey, what's up, guys?
00:08Yeah, I honestly think the Niners really got to approach this offseason
00:12and get bigger and faster.
00:15We're going to move off that B.A. contract, and then Juwan is a free agent.
00:19I say you let Juwan walk, go get Kyle Pitts,
00:23because we're going to not have Piddle,
00:25and that money that we could have paid B.A.,
00:28and Jennings was going to basically make up for Kyle Pitts,
00:31and then we need to go get Denzel Boston out of Washington
00:35and have another big wide receiver on the outside that could actually run
00:38and address the defensive line and O-line the rest of the drafts.
00:44So that's my take.
00:45Okay, so Dave, thanks.
00:47I got those are not bad thoughts at all.
00:50I got a little bit of a different,
00:52and this is the beauty of when we get to draft season and the offseason,
00:55maybe a little bit of a different philosophy on that.
00:57I don't want the Niners to go all in on a wide receiver in the draft.
01:01I really don't.
01:02I don't want them to use a high pick on a wide receiver
01:05because even the high pick wide receivers usually,
01:08sometimes they don't, but they usually take a minute.
01:11Wide receiver is not a great rookie.
01:15I know you're all going to come up with,
01:16but Puka, not always.
01:20Not always.
01:21Usually it takes a minute for wide receivers,
01:25and I would like the Niners to get help right now.
01:28I would rather see them, A, get healthy at wide receiver,
01:32B, do something in kind of the B-level range in free agency,
01:37that kind of Christian Kirk level.
01:40Not an A player, not someone who's going to ask for $30 million a year,
01:44but a good player.
01:45A good player you can bring in a couple years, $25 million, whatever.
01:51But be a professional.
01:52Be someone that you can rely on at the wide receiver position.
01:56And at tight end, that's where I might look to draft someone.
01:59Number one, if you want the big ticket out on the market,
02:06whether it's free agency or trade name,
02:08that I would be obsessed with if I were a 49er fan, and I am,
02:15it's Max Crosby.
02:17If you could circle one player that's a proven player,
02:23and you could find a way to make him a Niner, that's my guy.
02:28Max Crosby.
02:29It'd be great.
02:30I mean, that would be a perfect edge opposite Nick.
02:33And depending on how quickly Nick comes back off a third ACL
02:37and how good he's actually going to be, you need help there.
02:40You need help in the interior.
02:42You definitely need a wide receiver of some sort,
02:44and you need a tight end.
02:45And it's not just because George will be out until whatever,
02:49September, October, who knows when George comes back,
02:52but he's getting up there.
02:54And we've learned from Shanahan's offense that even if you don't have
02:58Christian McCaffrey, you can still do well on the ground.
03:00So I wouldn't think about a free agent running back or even a drafted
03:04running back.
03:04If I'm looking at needs, I'm looking at edge rusher, center, guard, tight end.
03:11I'm so with you.
03:13Cornerback.
03:13How about a nice, tall, big corner?
03:15Because Upton Stout's a great corner, but he's not 6'3", 6'4".
03:19And you look at who you have to stop.
03:21You've got to stop Puka, and you've got to stop JSN.
03:24And these are physical, like, good, bigger receivers.
03:27Well, and I love Lenore, but, yeah, Renardo Green did not have a great year,
03:30and so it does feel a little bit thin back there.
03:33I can see them addressing that in the draft.
03:36You know, youth at the corner position sometimes does take a minute as well,
03:39but I think they can be well served there.
03:42But I'm with you.
03:42The majority of what you just said was,
03:45I need the big people who start with a hand on the ground.
03:48Yep.
03:48That's who you need.
03:50That's where this team, this team, sure,
03:52do they need to do something at wide receiver?
03:54Of course they do.
03:55Of course they do.
03:56But this offseason, to me, is inside out, not outside in.
03:59Right, and if you think about, like, the good defense has gone by,
04:03you remember people like DeForest Buckner and Eric Armstead,
04:06guys who played inside, who were good.
04:08DeForest Buckner, when he was here, he was a monster.
04:11Yep.
04:12And if you have somebody who's a threat in the inside of your defensive line,
04:15then Nick Bosa has a better chance to eat.
04:18And, you know, think about Mikel Williams coming back.
04:20If you've got Mikel and another guy inside,
04:24and you've got Nick on the outside, and Fred is back,
04:26all of a sudden now, even if you don't upgrade the corners,
04:29they're going to be better.
04:30It's what you said last week about, you know,
04:32these poor corners who you had no pass rush.
04:36You had 20 sacks all year.
04:38How are they supposed to cover?
04:39They can't.
04:41A lot of people bringing up Tyler Linderbaum.
04:44Free agent center, Baltimore Ravens.
04:46He's 20, 25 years old.
04:48I like the player.
04:50He's really good at hiking the ball.
04:52Just stupid.
04:54He's a pro bowler.
04:56I don't know if that matters anymore, because who the hell isn't?
04:59But he's...
05:00Shadour Sanders.
05:02I'll save it for Friday.
05:04I mean...
05:05Shadour Sanders.
05:05No, I mean, good for Shadour.
05:07Yeah, good for Shadour.
05:07I'm happy for him.
05:08Yeah, absolutely.
05:09Pro bowler.
05:09No, he threw, like, at least five touchdown passes this year.
05:15Right.
05:16So, yeah.
05:16It reminds me of a local election where it's like,
05:19okay, the school board, choose four.
05:22And you look at the ballot, and there are only four people on there.
05:25So you either vote for all four,
05:26or you write in some cockamamie name of nobody who exists.
05:30That's the Pro Bowl.
05:31Oh, I shorted him, too.
05:32He had seven.
05:34Touchdown passes?
05:35Seven touchdown passes.
05:36How many picks?
05:37Hang on, I have to sneeze.
05:41Oh, my goodness.
05:42Hold on.
05:43I have to sneeze?
05:44No, I'm sorry for asking you a question.
05:46I really couldn't.
05:47I couldn't hold it.
05:48That was good.
05:48Usually you could hold it, but I had to sneeze.
05:51You know how you can block a sneeze, right?
05:52What is going on here?
05:53You squeeze your nose.
05:54No, no.
05:54You press right underneath the middle of your nostrils.
05:59Like, why does it work?
06:01Yeah.
06:01I don't know, but it works.
06:03Are you sure?
06:03Mark.
06:04Or does it only work for you?
06:05Mark, I've been sneezing since you were not even an apple in your appearance.
06:10Have you watched other people do that?
06:12I've never seen other people try it.
06:14Okay, then you don't know if it works.
06:16It works for you.
06:17It works.
06:18Next.
06:19Stop, Grandy.
06:20Fitz, you're having like a five-day weekend.
06:22The other shows weren't even on.
06:25Exactly.
06:25We can do whatever we want.
06:27We could sneeze for four hours and do better than they did.
06:30It was dead air.
06:31I tell you we're back on YouTube.
06:33Let's go on phones.
06:34You two got to see me sneeze.
06:36Yeah.
06:36For the love of God.
06:38Let's go to Pete.
06:39For the love of God.
06:41Pete.
06:41Hello, Pete.
06:43How are you?
06:46I'm great.
06:47Thanks for taking the call.
06:48Yeah.
06:50I'm going to get to quarterbacks, but the comedy portion of the call is when I get the
06:55left lower back aches and pains, I take cranberry juice because that's kidney stones.
07:02Oh.
07:02Oh.
07:03Okay.
07:03There you go.
07:04This call got really weird really fast, Pete.
07:06Go ahead.
07:08All right.
07:09The serious part of this call now is that the Niners do not have a quarterback problem,
07:16and they will not until they come up against what to do about Mac Jones.
07:23As long as they got Jones and Purdy, there's nothing to even worry about, discuss.
07:29They need football players all over the team.
07:32They don't need a quarterback right now.
07:34There you go.
07:35Hey, Pete.
07:35Have a great evening.
07:36Thank you, Pete.
07:37You want the Niners to trade Mac Jones or keep him?
07:41I want him to keep him.
07:42Yeah.
07:42He's fine.
07:43I'm with you.
07:44I'm with you, Pete.
07:44Thanks.
07:45That's going to be, let me forward promote a little bit.
07:49Off and on over the next three months, that's going to be, that's going to be a conversation.
07:55Keep or trade Mac Jones.
07:56Yeah, and we can get into it.
07:57I mean, you're keep.
07:58I'm trade.
07:59You're trading.
08:00Oh, yeah.
08:00For sure.
08:01I'm trading, but as long as you get more than a third.
08:03Yeah.
08:04Okay.
08:04I was going to say, what's your number?
08:05You're not just trading for anything.
08:07No.
08:07I mean, you're going to trade him for what he's worth.
08:10And I do think that if you keep him and then he signs elsewhere, you get a third round
08:15comp pick, if I'm not mistaken, after next year.
08:18After next year.
08:19So for me, like that's where the bar is.
08:21You're not going to trade him for a song or, you know, a fourth and a seventh or whatever,
08:26or a bottle of cranberry juice.
08:28I'm not a GM, but I would be surprised.
08:30I really would, if somebody is going to give you their two for Mac, I really would be surprised.
08:36That depends.
08:37Depends.
08:38Depends on the team.
08:39And, you know, we can go around the league and, you know, now is not the day to do that.
08:43Like there are teams that if they got Mac Jones right now, he would be the best quarterback
08:48they have.
08:49Well, sure.
08:49There's always teams that have crappy quarterback situations.
08:51But the question is, is whether or not they see that as the fix going forward.
08:57And I don't know.
09:00I don't know.
09:00I mean, I know that this, this system has done quarterback rehab before.
09:05Yep.
09:05I don't know if you heard the news, but 13 days from now, somebody is going to play in
09:10the Superbowl who went to Kyle Shanahan's quarterback rehab school.
09:14Exactly.
09:15So, and that's, I think that makes Mac more attractive.
09:18Maybe, maybe.
09:19I don't think he's unattractive.
09:20It's unattractive.
09:21I just think people are going to really hesitate to give up their two.
09:25That's a big pick.
09:27I mean, it's.
09:28It's a big draft pick.
09:29Depending on where you are, but also like Sam Darnold went from here to Minnesota and
09:34now he's going to be starting in the big game.
09:36Yep.
09:37Yep.
09:37Down there in Levi's.
09:38But all you had to give up for him at that time was a few bucks.
09:41You didn't have to give up a pick.
09:42A hundred million, but yeah.
09:43No, no, no.
09:43The Vikings.
09:44The Vikings got him for $10 million.
09:46You don't have to give up a pick.
09:47Seattle didn't have to give up a pick.
09:49Um, so I just think.
09:51They had to give up Geno Smith.
09:52Um, they were fine with that.
09:53They were fine with that.
09:55They were fine with that.
09:56They were fine with that.
09:57They were fine with that.
09:58They were fine with that.
09:59They were fine with that.
10:00They were fine with that.
10:01They were fine with that.
10:02They were fine with that.
10:03They were fine with that.
10:04They were fine with that.
10:05They were fine with that.
10:06They were fine with that.
10:07They were fine with that.
10:08They were fine with that.
10:09They were fine with that.
10:10They were fine with that.
10:11They were fine with that.
10:12They were fine with that.
10:13They were fine with that.
10:14They were fine with that.
10:15They were fine with that.
10:16They were fine with that.
10:17They were fine with that.
10:18They were fine with that.
10:19They were fine with that.
10:20They were fine with that.
