00:06governance of their country to the streets. We have closely followed with
00:10concern reports emerging from the Islamic
00:30Tragically, this quickly gave way to the old pattern of killings and arrests, a pattern
00:38of subjugation and overwhelming force that can never address people's grievances and
00:44frustrations. I call on the Iranian authorities to reconsider, to pull back and to end their
00:52brutal repression, including summary trials and disproportionate sentences. I call for
00:58the immediate release of all those arbitrarily detained by the Iranian authorities, and I
01:04call for a complete moratorium on the death penalty. I urge the government to end the internet
01:11and communication shutdown and to stop using this as a systematic practice.
01:17The death toll remains contested due to the shutdown enabling the state to control information
01:22flow. Authorities have reported over 3,000 deaths, including security forces,
01:28while some civil society estimates go up to tens of thousands, though neither of these figures
01:34can be independently verified. The staggering discrepancy demonstrates how the shutdown has
01:40obsecured the true scale of events.
01:43We may not know the exact number because of the internet blackout, but by any plausible estimate,
01:50this is the worst mass murder in the contemporary history of Iran. Our beautiful country has become
01:59a cemetery in which the hopes of our youth are buried.
02:07Events were deliberately transformed into organized violence, including terrorist attacks, destruction
02:14of property, and armed actions against civilians and law enforcement. The government of Iran officially
02:21announced verified figures regarding the recent unrest. A total of 3,117 lives were lost, of which 2,400
02:32were killed. 2,427 were killed as a direct result of terrorist operations. Iran neither hides its death nor
02:43outsources grief. We remain the principal climate of justice and the sole authority pursuing accountability.
02:52Accordingly, the Islamic Republic of Iran does not recognize the legitimacy or validity of this special session
