00:00The streets of Tehran appear calm, with two weeks of anti-government unrest seemingly cooled.
00:06But people are unsure if the calm will hold.
00:09U.S. President Donald Trump hasn't ruled out intervention in Iran,
00:13where, by some estimates, around 2,500 protesters are now dead.
00:18Some say Washington will think twice.
00:21It has reason to hesitate.
00:23Iran struck back after U.S. strikes last year, hitting a nearby military base.
00:30We gave them a firm response last time.
00:32I don't think they dare to attack again.
00:35But others aren't so sure, especially those who think Israel is pushing the U.S. to strike.
00:42I think the possibility of Trump attacking Iran is high, because he's not mentally stable.
00:48And his advisors are in majority Jewish lobbies.
00:50They only talk on behalf of Israel.
00:53Trump says his demand that protesters be spared execution is being met.
00:57And so, for now, U.S.-Iran tensions are playing in the diplomatic and financial realms.
01:03At the U.N., U.S. and Iranian diplomats have traded ominous statements.
01:08Colleagues, let me be clear.
01:11President Trump is a man of action, not endless talk like we see at the United Nations.
01:20He has made it clear all options are on the table to stop the slaughter.
01:27And no one should know that better than the leadership of the Iranian regime.
01:32Iran seeks neither escalation nor confrontation.
01:35However, any act of aggression, direct or indirect, will be met with a decisive, proportionate, and lawful response under Article 51 of the Charter.
01:50Meanwhile, the U.S. has sanctioned five Iranian officials and a prison it says are involved in the protest crackdown.
01:57Further U.S. plans, though, are tightly under wraps.
02:01The truth is, only President Trump knows what he's going to do.
02:04And a very, very small team of advisors are read into his thinking on that.
02:09And as I just told you, he continues to closely monitor the situation on the ground in Iran.
02:14The latest footage out of Tehran, at least, suggests protests may have eased.
02:18But even if Iran's government has survived these weeks of mass anger on the streets, it's not in the clear, as Trump decides where U.S.-Iran tensions go next.
