00:00It's a mixture of excitement, apprehension and it is what it is.
00:14With Monday's opening looming, merchants are sceptical.
00:18The biggest issue we're going to have is movement of the product off the floor and onto our
00:24vehicles.
00:25The new fish market is spread across four floors, product will be moved using five large
00:31goods lifts.
00:32We've got an outdoor lading dock for the bigger trucks because some of the longer and higher
00:39trucks can't fit downstairs.
00:41It's an early headache for the 42 retailers inside, of which over 30 will be open for
00:47business on Monday.
00:49In a statement the Sydney fish market says that it will work with tenants to address any
00:54teething issues.
00:56Adding that unlike the old site, both the trading floor and the loading dock are temperature
01:01controlled to preserve product quality.
01:04Infrastructure NSW confirmed a $30 million wharf and ferry project is still in the design stage,
01:11but highlighted increased light rail services are already in place.
01:15Across Blackwattle Bay, rowers have dominated the waters for nearly 150 years, but that'll
01:22change once ferry services start next year.
01:25For us the big issue is how regular are they going to be.
01:28If there's a ferry every 10 or 20 minutes it's going to be incredibly disruptive for us.
01:33Until then, extra light rail services and two bus routes will be relied on as the market
01:39opens its doors at 7am Monday.
