In a major political realignment ahead of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) has officially joined the AIADMK-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA). PMK President Anbumani Ramadoss met AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi Palaniswami in Chennai to formalise the pact. Speaking on the development, Anbumani Ramadoss stated, 'The reason for us joining this alliance is to remove the corrupt and inefficient DMK government in Tamil Nadu.' The alliance, which also includes the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), aims to consolidate the anti-DMK vote bank. Edappadi Palaniswami termed it a 'victory alliance' capable of sweeping the upcoming polls. The move marks a significant consolidation of opposition forces against the ruling DMK, following the AIADMK and BJP renewing their ties earlier.
