00:00The 2019 Oscars took over Hollywood on Sunday night,
00:03and when it came to handing out trophies,
00:04there were some major snubs and surprises.
00:07Olivia Colman shocked awards experts
00:09by winning the Oscar for Best Actress,
00:11beating presumptive favorite Glenn Close.
00:13Glenn Close, you've been my idol for so long,
00:16and this is not how I wanted it to be,
00:18and I think you're amazing, I love you very much.
00:21Colman's win marked the favorite's only award of the night,
00:24even though it went into the ceremony,
00:25tying Roma for the most nominations with 10 noms.
00:29Similarly, A Star Is Born headed into the night with eight noms,
00:32but only ended up taking home one award,
00:34Best Original Song for Shallow.
00:36Vice also had a poor showing only winning
00:38one of the eight awards it was up for,
00:39Best Makeup and Hairstyling.
00:41It failed to snag any of the acting awards
00:43it was nominated for, including the Best Actor Prize
00:45a number of experts thought star Christian Bale would win,
00:48first portrayal of Dick Cheney.
00:50I have been Secretary of Defense.
00:54I have been Chief of Staff.
00:56And while Spike Lee received a standing ovation
00:58while collecting his Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay,
01:01that was the only award Black Klansman won,
01:03despite receiving six noms.
01:05Meanwhile, several films were completely shut out,
01:08including Mary Poppins Returns,
01:09The Ballad of Buster Scruggs,
01:11and Can You Ever Forgive Me,
01:12which some experts predicted would sweep
01:14in the categories of Best Actress for Melissa McCarthy,
01:17Supporting Actor for Richard E. Grant,
01:19and Adapted Screenplay.
