00:00F is for Farsley and here I am at Springfield Mills to meet sisters Una and Jenny Sims owners
00:12of the Marshmallowist. Why do people love marshmallows so much? They are really light,
00:17they're really soft and fluffy and I think everyone has that association in the winter
00:22time with a hot chocolate where it sort of melts on top as a kid. Both of us just love Farsley,
00:28we grew up nearby but we actually had a bakery before this in Bramley and we always looked quite
00:35fondly over at this one in Farsley. Everyone who comes in, like a lot of locals from Farsley,
00:41you always sit and chat for like half an hour. You just sat there going oh yeah just talking about marshmallows.
00:47Everyone's interested, everyone's really excited by the fact that we're here. There's lots of other
00:54independent businesses here, everyone's really supportive of each other, it's a really nurturing
00:58place to grow a business. Such word of mouth as well, such a supportive community, couldn't be happier.
01:04Before we move on to G for Garforth, here's some of the Fs of Leeds.
01:17Gipton, Gledhow and Guiseley also make up the Gs of Leeds, as do actress and presenter Angela
01:37Griffin and suffragette Mary Gawthorpe. There's a heck of a lot of Hs including Hare Hills, Harewood,
01:47Headingley and Horsforth and here's Ed Carlisle returning to talk all things Hunslet.
01:56I do think there is this kind of real residual pride in Hunslet. A lot of people really kind of proud of
02:02their community and I think there's an interesting work, a piece of work around just trying to
02:08constantly kind of reinvigorate that, re-envision people for their community and I suppose recognizing
02:13the history of Hunslet and a very proud history and saying how do you kind of bring that forward
02:17into this century and hopefully the next. The Hunslet Club is absolutely remarkable,
02:23a really really unique institution established coming up for a hundred years ago during the Second World War
02:29and just to this day an absolutely vibrant thriving youth and community centre with thousands of
02:36members and hundreds of people through their doors most days, kind of a wide wide range of stuff so
02:41yeah a real jewel in the crown for for South Leeds. Let's end this section with a few more Hs of
02:47Leeds, Halton, Holbeck, Hyde Park and do you remember Homburgs for its theatre costumes?
