Fred Toucher, Wallach, and Hardy tore into Bill Belichick after his ugly 48–14 loss to TCU in his North Carolina debut. They mocked him for bringing in 70 new players, doubted his ability to recruit, and even compared him to Matt Patricia, who’s thriving at Ohio State. The guys predicted UNC will only win five or six games, with Fred joking Belichick might not last the season.

00:00Yesterday, so Bill, he takes the field.
00:03Everyone's out there.
00:05Everyone except for Desmond Howard picks North Carolina.
00:09Teddy Bruschi, surprisingly.
00:11Randy Moss, surprisingly, picks.
00:13I mean, they're obviously analyzing this thing like there's no tomorrow.
00:18They're on top of everything.
00:19Bill Belichick's got 70 new players on this team,
00:23and he's been really putting them through their paces.
00:25So the game starts, and up and down the field go the North Carolina Tar Heels,
00:34and boom-da-boom-boom-boom, and they score that touchdown,
00:37and then nothing happens again.
00:39And they pull their quarterback and everything else,
00:42and they end up getting absolutely destroyed 48-14, which was fantastic.
00:47So there's no way that they could ever in a million years,
00:49under any circumstances now, make the playoff.
00:53There's just no way.
00:54I don't care if they win the ACC.
00:56There's no way that they could make the college playoff.
00:58There's just none.
00:59You don't take a loss like that to TCU at home and win it,
01:02unless you're like Alabama or something.
01:04They're not going to grandfather North Carolina in.
01:08And so now, look, this schedule is ludicrous, and it's how easy it is.
01:14They're at Charlotte, where I would imagine.
01:17If they lose that, that's great.
01:18Well, Charlotte lost to Appalachian State by over 15 points.
01:22Yeah, Appalachian State beat Michigan one year.
01:24That's true.
01:24Oh, that's one of the greatest games ever.
01:27Appalachian State beat Michigan one year.
01:29Ruined their season in week one.
01:31Yes, indeed.
01:32Oh, my God.
01:32Paid them over a million dollars to be there and then lost.
01:34And then they play Richmond at home.
01:37Richmond, who just lost to Lehigh by a touchdown last week.
01:40Yeah, so I'm guessing that those are not the worst things in the world.
01:45And so then they're at UCF, which I would imagine they lose that game.
01:50There's no way they're beating Clemson, and then so on and so forth.
01:54So what did UCF do?
01:56And UCF is an 83% favorite, close to 84% favorite to win that game.
02:02Bill somehow, despite the six Super Bowls, unable to attract talent to North Carolina.
02:10And here we were under the assumption that he was able to do that.
02:16But after watching college football this weekend, just much like there was the Brady-Belichick
02:23debate, is there the Patricia-Belichick debate?
02:27Because Patricia, as defensive coordinator of Ohio State, held Arch Manning and the Texas
02:35Longhorns to seven points, while Bill Belichick gave up 48 to Texas Christian University.
02:43Who was not ranked.
02:44Who was only a three-and-a-half-point favorite.
02:47Bill and his spawn, you know, just genetically engineered for great defense.
02:52Gary Myers, get him on the phone, because Brady versus Belichick is coming out later this
02:57month.
02:57Perhaps Brady versus Patricia should be coming out as well.
03:01Was Bill just a beneficiary of greater football minds?
03:05He's such a dope.
03:07What an idiot.
03:08He can't even, a six-time Super Bowl coach, bring 70 kids in.
03:13First of all, well done.
03:15That'll all get cohesive right away.
03:17You'd have to have two coaches on staff just to help you remember names.
03:21Well, Lombardi brought him in.
03:23That's a good point.
03:24Lombardi brought him in.
03:25And the great Mike Lombardi, hey, the GM of the team.
03:28I liked seeing him up in the booth last night, too.
03:30Oh, and I also liked in the pregame people saying that, you know, they got like a Super
03:37Bowl-winning GM in there, you know, Mike Lombardi.
03:40Like, not a total idiot that is one of, you know, says yes to Belichick and spent 15 years
03:47kissing his ass.
03:48So that's why he has the job.
03:50Belichick surrounds himself.
03:52And this is unfair to his kids, because especially Brian, I heard, is intelligent.
03:57But he does, and this doesn't count as kids.
04:01But he does surround himself with fools.
04:04He really does.
04:05Steven was really good as a defensive coordinator on his own last year, too.
04:08Well, he was at Oregon, too, who has NIL money.
04:11Or Washington, who has NIL money that you wouldn't believe.
04:14But nonetheless, how long until the fans of North Carolina football go, oh, I don't like
04:24you anymore?
04:25It's going to be, again, they have two opponents, maybe three, Central Florida.
04:29They lost to TCU, though, John, and beating Charlotte and Richmond is not going to.
04:33They are so thirsty.
04:35UNC's been so mediocre to poor for so long.
04:37And then you lost at home 48-14 on a Monday night game with national media there, Jonathan.
04:42I know that, but if they wind up 3-1, regardless of who.
04:45They're not going to end up 3-1.
04:47Regardless of who the opponents are.
04:48They're going to end up 2-2.
04:49Okay.
04:50They're not beating UCF at UCF.
04:52UCF just barely beat Jacksonville State by seven in week one.
04:56UCF is a...
04:58I know they're favorites, and I know they're 83%, whatever.
05:01All I'm saying is, I know nothing about UCF football other than what I just told you.
05:05My point is, it wasn't a blowout win in week one.
05:08They could be 3-1.
05:09North Carolina fans conveniently will forget that they just got curb stomped by a decent
05:14FBS team.
05:15Tar Heel is a loser.
05:16You think that, like, North Carolina is not a town that doesn't know about sports, college
05:25sports.
05:26Now, I know it's a basketball town, but they're not naive enough to go, oh, things are great.
05:32They just beat Charlotte.
05:33No.
05:34No.
05:35But they're not beating UCF.
05:37Okay.
05:37They're not.
05:38All right.
05:38You saw that team.
05:40They can't...
05:41They're terrible.
05:41He somehow managed...
05:44Well, he doesn't need one, because, you know, he doesn't need a quarterback.
05:47He's, you know, he proved that by letting Brady go.
05:50He can let...
05:51You can get anyone to just use his system.
05:53Right.
05:54He doesn't have a kid who can play quarterback.
05:57Their defense is terrible.
05:59What part of that team did you see that you went, oh, that...
06:04Their kicker on the first extra point, I thought he missed it.
06:08I thought he missed it, too.
06:08No, I thought what I saw is what we've seen in New England and around the NFL, just to
06:13be fair, a great seven-play opening drive, a great scripted seven-play drive, and you
06:20saw the defense get a stop on their first trip out there.
06:23But other than that...
06:25They were awful.
06:26Awful.
06:26Beyond awful.
06:27But by the way, this just was a year of purgatory for him to get back into the NFL.
06:32I wonder how long he's got this job.
06:36If he loses, all right, beats Charlotte and Richmond, he's two and one, loses to UCF
06:43in Clemson, that makes him two and three.
06:47Say he finishes this season with six wins.
06:50I think that's optimistic.
06:51I think based on what we saw last night, you figure five wins.
06:55If he wins five games, they fire him?
06:56No.
06:57They don't.
06:58Because they'll make that convenient excuse.
07:00Oh, we got 70 new guys in.
07:02Let them settle in.
07:03Well, maybe don't bring 70 new guys in.
07:05They made a bowl last year.
07:07Didn't Carolina play in the Fenway Bowl last year?
07:10I think you're right about that.
07:11They made a bowl last year.
07:12They were 500 last year.
07:14I think they finished six and seven after they lost a bowl game.
07:17Okay.
07:17But if they win five games, the excuse will be, okay, he's just settling in.
07:23He had to bring in all these new players.
07:25Let's give his program time.
07:27I bet you he gets another year.
07:28My thing would be he's the highest state employee in the state.
07:32Sure.
07:32You brought him in as a genius, someone to turn this program around, and you don't get
07:39a year.
07:40You don't get a year.
07:42Like, you know, Debo Samuel doesn't get a year.
07:48Debo Samuel.
07:50He didn't get a year.
07:52I think he should make 10 pounds all a year.
07:54Do you think this coach at Alabama is going to get a lot of time?
07:59No.
08:00Debo or he could be gone after this year.
08:02I'm glad you mentioned Alabama because former Alabama head coach and, let's see, a current
08:09ESPN host and a bunch of people all made their picks before the game started.
08:15Yeah, I mentioned that.
08:16Yeah, yeah.
08:17I don't know.
08:18Oh, I'm sorry.
08:19No, it's okay.
08:19I was actually talking to Ryan so we could have the audio just to do a quick count of
08:24like who picked what and specifically what they had to say about it.
08:28Okay, we'll come back with why they picked it because, yeah, Brewski was there.
08:32Desmond Howard's the only guy who picked against them.
08:34But, yeah, we'll have why they – you should – by the way, fade Feinbaum.
08:40Feinbaum, who I love, was wrong on everything.
08:42And, by the way, we should get Feinbaum audio today.
08:44Oh, yeah.
08:45For sure.
08:46We got it.
08:46But Feinbaum was –
08:48Ric Flair took him down.
08:49Don't worry about it.
08:50If you faded Feinbaum, you won every bet.
08:53Fred, you're exaggerating.
08:55No, I'm not.
08:56You won every bet.
08:57Every bet.
08:59He took Notre Dame.
09:01He took Alabama.
09:02He took Texas.
09:04Oh, boy.
09:04But we need to monitor all these people today.
09:06Oh, they're going to be going nuts.
09:07We're so sure about North Carolina.
09:09Oh, they're going to be going nuts.
09:10But about anything.
09:11But we need Feinbaum tomorrow.
