00:01The election writs were returned yesterday and Premier Jeremy Rockcliffe came to visit
00:07the Governor Barbara Baker this morning. He arrived about 9 o'clock and was here for 45 minutes.
00:13We don't know the outcome of those discussions just yet because he left without talking to reporters.
00:18We do know that the Governor had a couple of options.
00:21We know that Jeremy Rockcliffe was going in asking for his government to be recommissioned,
00:25so it was one option for her to accept that request.
00:29The other option was that she could ask him to provide formal agreements with crossbenchers,
00:34the four that he needed to show that he had support in order to form a minority government.
00:39Jeremy Rockcliffe has said though that he doesn't think that he needs formal agreements.
00:43He thinks that he could test his numbers on the floor of the House and show that he does have support in the Parliament.
00:49The Liberal Party won 14 seats at the election.
00:52Labor won 10 and there are 11 members on the crossbench.
00:56Five of those are Greens members. The Greens have said they won't work with the Liberals.
01:00We also have Independent Craig Garland from Braddon who says he won't work with the Liberals either.
01:05So the Liberals need the support of four of the five remaining crossbenchers in order to form that minority government.
01:11Labor has said too that it's stepping up its negotiations because it doesn't believe that the Liberals have the numbers.
01:17But Labor has also ruled out working with the Greens.
01:21So they're unlikely to have the numbers either unless they settle a little bit on that stance.
01:26We know that Jeremy Rockcliffe is doing a press conference in just under an hour at Near Star.
01:31So we're hoping that we learn more about what the outcome of the negotiations with the Governor were in about that time.
01:37Nobody had a good one.
01:39Nobody had a good one.
01:42They let me know.
01:43They were hoping that they were hoping that they were calm.
01:46But that was so important especially for a second time.
01:49I have a great day.
01:51Now, we're going to get a good time.
01:54We're going to walk down the stairs right now.
01:57I'm going to do that on the other side.
01:59So I'm going to get back there.
02:01I'm going to get back there.
02:03I don't know.
02:04I'm going to do that on the other side.
