00:08The main Chinese New Year city centre celebrations will be held on Sunday 2nd February in and
00:13around Europe's oldest Chinatown.
00:15The city is already adorned with symbolic Chinese lanterns and its iconic buildings,
00:19including Sefton Park, Palm House and St George's Hall, will be lit up red as Liverpool celebrates
00:23the Year of the Snake.
00:25A small number of family-friendly activity workshops and craft stalls will take place
00:29in Chinatown on Saturday 1st February.
00:32This programme will offer a quieter alternative to Sunday's proceedings, without firecrackers
00:36and loud music performances, ensuring everyone can join in on the fun.
00:41Projections inspired by Chinese mythology and Liverpool's cultural heritage will take
00:45over the bombed out church on the evening of the 1st and 2nd February from 5.30 to 9pm.
00:51The work has been created by immersive projection expert Focal Studios in collaboration with
00:57Pagoda Arts and the local community.
