00:00The West Indies lead Group B of the Women's T20 World Cup after beating
00:04Bangladesh by eight wickets. It puts the former champions in a good position to
00:08reach the semis with one more group game against England on Tuesday. Captain Hayley
00:12Matthews has commended her girls for reaching this far after a poor start.
00:16Yeah I think after that first defeat we did speak a lot about how we want to
00:20come back and how we want to do it as a team and I think everyone was up for the
00:24challenge from that moment. Obviously in World Cups you lose one game early on it
00:29does put the pressure on but I think the team has been wonderful with the way
00:32they've handled the pressure and just everyone in a good mood everyone in good
00:36spirits and I think everyone's up for the challenge that's been the biggest
00:38thing. I think a lot of the time when you do get into trouble situations
00:42players and a team can sometimes shy from it but I think the way the girls
00:47have stepped up and really tried to put in big performances and taken the attack
00:50to the other teams has been great to see. Stefani Taylor had to retire hurt
00:54because of a knee issue with her score on 27. Matthews has lauded the Jamaican
00:59for doing her part which contributed towards the win and also saw Taylor
01:02going past 1,000 T20 World Cup runs. Yeah I think the doctors and the physios have
01:07been managing it along with her of course and yeah I think there was a
01:10conversation at halftime more around her and what she wanted to do and if she was
01:15comfortable going out to bat and I think she's been fantastic with that the
01:18entire tournament really wanting to get out on the park and do the job even
01:22though she's struggling a bit with an injury so it's great to see and she's
01:25obviously very very important to the team and what we do as a group so yeah
01:30it's just great to have her out there and obviously doing the calculations at
01:33the halftime mark figuring we were in a pretty good position just noticing it
01:37was probably a good time for her then to come off after we felt that we had the
01:40game under control. Player of the match Karishma Ramharak also could not be
01:44left out who fought for 17 from four overs resulted in the West Indies having
01:49to chase a small target of 104. Yeah I think she's obviously someone like you
01:53said who's been around for a little while now but she's been able to really
01:56come into her own I think in the last two years making the team in the
02:00tournament last year and then being able to have performances like these I think
02:03she's improved all around but I think her control and I guess her attitude
02:07towards bowling has definitely been something that I've seen shift so yeah I
02:10think it's been great to have her and not just playing in the lineup but going
02:15out there and really wanting to play a massive role within the team and she's
02:19done that today. Matthews is pleased that the last game in group B is the one
02:23between West Indies and England since the ladies in maroon will know exactly
02:27how to approach it having said that she's taking nothing for granted and
02:31plans to go all out for a win. Vinod Nawani, T6 Sport
