00:00 Hi, thanks for watching and joining London World on a city experience food and history
00:10 tour of Borough Market and Southwark.
00:17 The tour started at a family run restaurant next to London Bridge with some banging bacon
00:22 and egg baps.
00:23 After breakfast, the tour headed to the iconic Borough Market and were treated to some freshly
00:29 caught oysters from Mersey Island in Essex caught that day.
00:37 After guzzling those down, we stopped at Fish Kitchen for some well and truly iconic fish
00:43 and chips.
00:44 Now after that we were pretty full but there was still room for dessert, especially at
00:48 this place, Humble Crumble.
00:50 And lets say they shouldn't be so humble, it was amazing.
00:53 A marshmallow style topping, yes please.
00:56 Now well and truly full, our guide Becky took us around Southwark and told us tales of Winchester
01:02 geese, pirateers and much more.
01:05 Yeah, awesome.
01:06 So we do a tour of Borough Market and Southwark.
01:09 The tour is to take you around key food stops in and around the market.
01:15 These are places that came in after the market was revived in the early 2000s and so it's
01:19 really good to have people shown around some of our best of British in terms of food.
01:25 The thing I also love about doing these tours is the history and the culture that you weave
01:29 into it as well.
01:30 So it's not just about having a particular kind of food, having your fish and chips or
01:37 having some cheeses.
01:38 It's about the history and the story behind those things.
01:40 It's about the history and the story behind the area as well.
01:44 Southwark has a very long history of being sort of a den of iniquity and sort of the
01:49 seedier side of town.
01:51 So it's nice to introduce guests to a bit of history that they may not learn about if
01:57 they're going into central London where it's all glitzy and glamorous and kings and queens.
02:01 You're getting something a little bit different from us.
02:05 After our true story roundup, then surprise, more food.
02:08 This time we had some Madeira wine, some English cheeses and even a sticky toffee pudding.
02:13 We were well and truly treated to desserts that day.
02:17 And breathe.
02:18 Oh no wait, more food.
02:19 Seriously, I thought I might die at this point but afternoon tea, yeah it would be rude not
02:24 to.
02:25 Then we headed upstairs on the boat to get a view of the famous Tower Bridge, the London
02:29 Eye and the Houses of Parliament.
