00:07 A family of a woman who needed double leg amputation after a bus collision have urged
00:11 drivers to show more compassion.
00:13 Scott Cliff was driving a bus and mistakenly believed that Joan Scott had previously tried
00:18 to ride the bus without paying.
00:19 He closed the doors and drove off but Joan's walking stick was trapped in the door and
00:23 she was dragged under the bus tyres.
00:26 Cliff has since been jailed.
00:29 Work will start next week on Pilgrim Street to upgrade the area.
00:33 The work includes new pavements as well as a two-way cycle lane.
00:38 And finally from Sunday, work will begin on a super crossing at the southern end of the
00:42 Tyne Bridge.
00:44 Lane closures will be in place for four weeks from this Sunday so allow plenty of time for
