In 1944, the Movie National Velvet was in production. Elizabeth Taylor at age 12 played a 13 year old in the movie. She trained long hard hours and rode "Pie" who was played by a 7yr. old gelding that was King Charles a grandson of Man O' War for 90 minutes a day. Also, she spent time with him bonding and feeding him everyday. She loved him and he loved her. King Charles was a bit difficult, making swipes with movie staff.
