Transcript
00:00And this is Pat Boyle from BetMGM.
00:02We love having him on every week.
00:03So what the F happened with your Yankees team, man?
00:07They just absolutely vomited on their shoes.
00:10The same thing that always happens.
00:11They run into a team that is superior to them, that plays fundamental baseball,
00:15that can run the bases, that can play defense and hits for a high average,
00:18and that has a decent pitching staff.
00:20And the same thing that always happens happens.
00:22The Yankees get beat a couple of one-run games.
00:25I mean, that defensive blunder, my God.
00:28My dad passed two years ago, and I joked that Game 5 of the World Series
00:31against the Dodgers killed him.
00:33If he was still alive, that Game 2 would have killed him again.
00:36I mean, holy.
00:38Hey, Pat, what are people saying about Aaron Boone?
00:41I mean, are people just done with this guy?
00:42What's up with Aaron Boone there?
00:45It's pretty crazy how I feel like there's a growing pocket of Yankees fans
00:49every year that want a new direction, that want a new manager, that want, you know,
00:54if you listen to WFN, fire Boone, fire Cashman, enough is enough.
01:01So, yeah, it just, you know, again, you look at the mistakes that I feel like Aaron Boone
01:05kind of made throughout this series, and any Yankee fan will tell you
01:09Trent Grisham should have been nowhere near the leadoff spot.
01:12And, you know, again, it's fitting that he's the one that ends the season
01:15when he's up at the dish in Game 3 the other night.
01:19But, again, you know, whether it's you guys were talking about it all last week, right?
01:23Are the Red Sox too analytically driven now with Breslow leading the way?
01:27That's kind of been a conversation for the Yankees over the last several years.
01:30Did they rely too much on the analytics in terms of the lineup construction
01:33and the roster construction, playing guys out of position?
01:37So, look, I think with the potential lockout coming up this next year,
01:43I'd be surprised at this point if there were any changes that get made.
01:46You know, and you ask 20 to 25 Major League Baseball franchises every year,
01:51would you sign for 90 to 98 wins in a playoff appearance?
01:54And almost every single one would say yes, but with the Yankees,
01:57those are, you know, those are no longer the expectations.
01:59So you can use the excuse of Aaron Judge wasn't healthy this time,
02:02but it feels like, you know, there's not too many more excuses to be made.
02:06It's just another humiliating feeling.
02:09All I know, Pat, is the best rumor is the one that John Heyman floated out there
02:12is that even though he is told the Phillies to go screw twice,
02:17the only team that Alex Cora would consider managing if there indeed was an opening
02:22would be the New York Yankees.
02:25Yeah, that would be awfully interesting.
02:29But, yeah, I don't know.
02:31I just, I would be shocked if there were any major changes that get made.
02:36But you never know.
02:37You never know.
02:38But all I know is that would be just phenomenal here.
02:40I mean, that would, I mean, people's heads would explode.
02:43Because, I mean, Alex Cora, despite what happened at the beginning of the season,
02:45he was loved here.
02:46People loved Alex Cora.
02:47They thought that maybe his, like, he wasn't the right manager for this team at the time.
02:51Love him more now.
02:52I know.
02:53Now, right.
02:53We could have used an Alex Cora in the postseason.
02:55I'll tell you that much.
02:56All right, Pat Boyle, looking to find a place to put your cash this weekend.
03:01Let's start with the Patriots game.
03:02It looks like the Pats are favored, I think, by three and a half, if I'm right.
03:07Where is your head and money in this game there, Pat?
03:11Yeah, it's a tough one to call, right?
03:12I mean, I heard the update coming back here.
03:14Carlton Davis and Christian Gonzalez both out.
03:17And the backup corners are out as well.
03:19So, their secondary is going to be extremely thin.
03:21Well, here's the good news.
03:22The Raiders, who are you scared of in that receiving room?
03:25I mean, it's Trey Tucker, Jalen Neller's got to get out of concussion protocol, a guy
03:30Cody White, who just only gets, like, one or two catches a week and it's a touchdown.
03:34He's on the injury report.
03:35The biggest news is Ashton Gentry.
03:37It seems like it's a 50-50 shot of him playing.
03:39So, again, for the second straight week, I told you guys last week when Christian Gonzalez
03:44didn't play, who are you worried about?
03:45DJ Moore with a banged-up shoulder, and he ends up, you know, barely even doing anything.
03:49You know, but you still get a shootout because both of these defenses have struggled so far.
03:53So, the fact that the Patriots' secondary is extremely thin, really the big guy you've
03:58got to worry about is Brock Bowers down over the middle.
04:01It's this Raiders defense that the Patriots have to be aware of.
04:04It's a Raiders defense that's number one in takeaways, number one in forced fumbles,
04:08tied for fifth in sacks.
04:09They give up chunk yardage, and they can't stop the run, but they more than make up for
04:13that with the havoc that they were able to wreak week in and week out.
04:16And that could be a disaster for Drake May with how much he's turned the football over
04:20this year.
04:21That being said, I'm not really confident one way or another.
04:25I would just play this.
04:26I would play this the ends of the spectrum here, whether it's either the Patriots are
04:30probably going to win by a touchdown, because Drake May, as a field goal favorite or more,
04:34is undefeated in his career.
04:36He's 14-0 straight up.
04:38Oh, really?
04:39That's a great stat.
04:40So, whenever the Patriots and Drake May are a field goal favorite, they're 14-0?
04:46Yep.
04:46Let me, I had it written down here.
04:48As a three-point favorite or more, Drake May is 14-0 as a starting quarterback.
04:53So, I feel like the Patriots either win this by margin or the Raiders win the game outright.
04:57This is going to come down to how many turnovers they can generate.
05:00If Drake May can protect the football and they can run the ball well, and I know Ramondre
05:04is a question mark as well.
05:05He said he's ready to go, but Vrabel, not so sure.
05:07They got to lean on the run game here.
05:09I think that's their best chance of winning.
05:10So, whether or not Ramondre plays, I think the fact that he maybe is a little banged
05:15up, I think a big day for Travion Stevenson.
05:18And, like I said, I think either the Patriots win in a blowout or the Raiders win the game
05:22outright.
05:22All right, Pat.
05:23Sunday morning, breakfast in London again.
05:25I am loving Jacksonville.
05:27I know it's a lot of points.
05:28Would you give seven and a half?
05:29The Eagles are in trouble.
05:31They are.
05:32I mean, they're in big-time trouble.
05:33And, I mean, as a Giants fan, I've been celebrating all week what looks like Howie Roseman
05:38waving the freaking white flag, trading away Cam Juergens.
05:41Then, again, to get a second-round pick back for a guy that looks like a shell of himself.
05:45Not too bad of a job there by the GM.
05:48Look, I feel like at this point, right, we all want to be sharp, right?
05:53This number, I feel like, has ballooned to a point where now I think you have to take
05:58the Patriots here.
05:59Seven and a half in London.
06:00I know the Jaguars.
06:01You mean you got to take the Eagles?
06:03You got to take the Eagles, you mean?
06:04You said that.
06:04Yeah, sorry.
06:05I don't know what I said.
06:06You got to take the Eagles, I think, at this point here.
06:08It's over a touchdown.
06:09And, like, Jalen Hurts, as bad as he's been, he's playing a football game, right?
06:13Tell me the last time we've seen a line move five to six points, and it's not because the
06:17starting quarterback's out.
06:18I understand that Saquon is probably not going to play.
06:21Devontae Smith doesn't look like he's good to go.
06:23They lost two linemen this week.
06:24Lane Johnson retiring.
06:25But their defense, which has been very mediocre so far, I wouldn't put it past this defense
06:31to kind of get a season-saving win.
06:34I would not be shocked they win this freaking game outright here.
06:37I just think, look, maybe I could be dead wrong, and maybe the Jaguars do blow them
06:42out.
06:42I think next week is the spot to play the Jaguars when they're in London for a second straight
06:46week, and you have to get the Texans going over there.
06:49That's the spot I want to play the Jaguars, especially if you get them losing to the Eagles
06:53because you get a much better number next week.
06:55This number is crazy.
06:56It's out of control.
06:58They could absolutely win the game by 14 because the Eagles have no offense, but it would
07:02not shock me in the slightest if Trevor Lawrence turns into a pumpkin, throws two picks, turns
07:06it over three times, and the Eagles find a way to win this game.
07:09So it's Eagles or nothing for me.
07:11If you got it earlier in the week, Jacksonville, under a field goal or even four, four and a
07:15half, you got a decent number.
07:16Now it's out of control.
07:18It would be the Eagles or nothing at this point.
07:19Yeah, no doubt, Pat.
07:20Dude, Trevor Lawrence, he can have a bad game.
07:23And this is as well as he can have a good game.
07:25Impossible.
07:26No, it's not.
07:27All right.
07:28So this is a game I'm kind of really excited to watch.
07:31Sunday late afternoon game, the 49ers and the Seahawks, 49ers 4-0, Seahawks 3-1.
07:37I think the 49ers look like the most dominating team so far in the NFL, but yet they are three
07:43point dogs in this game.
07:44How do you see that one going?
07:46Yeah, this is a tough one to call.
07:48And a slight lean for Seattle for me.
07:50I feel like we just go off the vibes here, right?
07:52You mentioned San Francisco looks dominant.
07:54Brock Purdy is the MVP, I think, if the season ended today.
07:58And they're doing a good job despite the injuries that, once again, continue to rack up for them.
08:03But here's the thing.
08:04Seattle, it's like, all right, well, Darnold was hurt for a couple games.
08:07They held it down with Drew Locke.
08:08Now their run game is thin.
08:09Jadarian Price is on injured reserve.
08:11They got a good game from Emmanuel Wilson.
08:13The Seahawks' defense just two weeks ago, they gave up 30-plus points to Marcus Mariota.
08:18But at home, I just think this team is a different animal.
08:21And, yes, the Niners had, like, third-string linebackers playing in the playoffs.
08:26But we saw what happened when they played Seattle in the postseason.
08:30Their defense, Seattle's defense, is equipped to stop this Niners offense.
08:34And I don't think it's going to be a blowout because I do think Purdy and San Francisco are playing
08:39tremendously right now.
08:40But I would still lean in Seattle here only because they got the home field advantage.
08:45This is a coin toss, but, yes, slight lean for the Seahawks for me.
08:48All right.
08:49Finally, Pat, game of the week, in my opinion, and a huge one with implication for the Patriots, is Monday
08:54night football.
08:55Rams versus Bills.
08:57Rams, obviously, desperate to get into the over 500.
09:01And the Bills, if they lose this, it's a big deal.
09:04I just got to think that this is going to be a high-scoring game.
09:07I don't know what the over-under is, but it's got to be in the 50s, I would think, at
09:11least.
09:13Where's your head on that for this game, the Rams and the Bills?
09:16Yeah, it's tied for the highest total of the week.
09:18And would you believe me if I said that a game that the Lions and the Cardinals are both involved
09:22in was the other highest total?
09:23Because those defenses stink on ice.
09:27So, yeah, it's 54-and-a-half.
09:29Oh, wow.
09:30And, look, I think it probably goes over.
09:32I mean, again, you're playing inside SoFi Stadium, whether or not a factor, whereas it will be in a bunch
09:36of games this week because of the tail end of Isaias, the hurricane.
09:41But, yeah, I mean, inside the dome, friendly conditions.
09:44And both these defenses haven't been that good thus far.
09:47Rams, obviously, without Miles Garrett and Aaron Donald, the question mark again.
09:50They have not been able to generate pressure on opposing quarterbacks.
09:54So, Josh Allen is probably going to carve them up, whether or not DJ Moore plays.
09:57All of a sudden, Keon Coleman, this guy got thrown underneath how many buses in the summer?
10:01And here he is with a big game last week.
10:04And we know that they're going to run the ball effectively either way, and Dalton Kincaid is their real weapon.
10:09You know, for the Rams, you know, the Bills' defense was supposed to change this year with new defense coordinator
10:13Jim Leonard.
10:13I'm sure, as you guys saw last week, that's not the case.
10:16They still can't stop the run.
10:17They have not been able to get pressure.
10:18They play a very soft zone defense.
10:21If they don't get turnovers, Matthew Stafford is going to pick them apart.
10:24And he always, he always slices up zone defenses.
10:28Puka Nakua, the best zone beater in the game.
10:30We know Devontae is a red zone threat, even though it feels like every other week he either disappears or
10:34has a massive game.
10:36I like the Rams just because I think the Bills' defense is super suspect.
10:40And even though I don't think he's that great, if DJ Moore doesn't play, that's one less weapon the Rams'
10:46defense has to worry about.
10:47But for me, it's Buffalo's defense is still not to be trusted.
10:51So the Rams at home, even though they don't have a huge home field advantage, I would take the Rams.
10:55And I do like the over.
10:56I think this is probably 31-28, something like that.
10:59Real quick, we're out of time.
11:01But I guess I just got to ask you quickly, just give me the name of the team.
11:04Who wins the Toilet Bowl?
11:06The Battle of the 0-4s.
11:08Houston and Tennessee.
11:10Texans.
11:10Texans big.
11:11Mike O'Reilly taking back the play calling.
11:13I would not count them out to make the playoffs at 0-4.
11:17They did at 0-3 last year.
11:18Wow.
11:19Okay.
11:19Isn't there some sort of stat about 0-4 teams?
11:22And there have only been one in the last...
11:2492 Chargers.
11:2492 Chargers.
11:26That's right.
11:26Okay.
11:26All right.
11:27Well, let's see if it happens.
11:28Love it.
11:29Battle of the 0-4s.
11:30That should be a good one.
11:31All right.
11:31Well, Pat Boyle, BetMGM, great stuff.
11:34Always love having you on.
11:35Sorry about your Yankees, but sorry that I'm not sorry.
11:39Absolutely.
11:39Yeah, no, you're not, but that's okay.
11:41I gave it to you guys last week, so you get to dance on the Yankees' grave now.
11:44It's all fun.
11:45But, hey, the Giants, the New York football Giants are in first place,
11:48and the NFC East is up for grabs.
11:50So on to football, and I'm on to my next guy.
11:51All right.
11:52We'll talk to you soon, Pat.
11:53Thanks, man.
11:53Appreciate it.
11:54All right, guys.
11:55See you.
