00:00I hope this moment also says something about who gets to belong.
00:03For people who look like me, I hope they see themselves reflected in this place
00:08and know that their path too belongs here.
00:11This is Camden and this is Britain.
00:19For all people, but especially for young people,
00:23I want this to demonstrate that you do not have to surrender your hope to succeed.
00:28You can lead with optimism, with kindness and with conviction.
00:32I want young people to know that their background does not determine the size of their dreams
00:36and that public life is a place for them to make a difference.
00:39In Camden, our diversity is a strength
00:42and our cohesion has been too hard one to take for granted.
00:48Since I was a child, I've watched people across Camden work to build communities
00:53where difference is not something to fear but something to value.
00:56We cannot allow that work built over generations to be casually undone
01:01by those who seek to divide us.
01:03We have a responsibility to defend what we've built and pass it on.
01:08Hope is not naive.
01:09Without hope, there is nothing to build on and nothing to build for.
01:12Love is a beautiful, brother.
